Salman Khan’s Bodyguard ‘Shera’ Buys Rs. 1.7 Crore Range Rover Sport

Bollywood actor Salman Khan always has one person traveling with him wherever he goes. His name is Shera (original name Gurmeet Singh Jolly), and he’s Salman Khan’s bodyguard. Shera has just bought a brand new Range Rover Sport luxury SUV worth Rs. 1.7 crore (on-road Mumbai). He was recently seen taking delivery of the luxury SUV, and also posed with his new acquisition. Shera took to Instagram to announce his latest car with the following post.
Now, bodyguards who work for top-celebrities, politicians and businessmen are paid quite well. However, the bigger question is whether Shera gets paid so much that he can actually afford to buy a Range Rover Sport SUV worth over a crore?
Well, 55 year-old Shera also owns a security agency called Tiger Security that provides security services to Bollywood’s rich and famous. In fact, when Justin Bieber recently visited Mumbai for a concert, he hired Tiger Security, and Shera was seen personally escorting the Canadian singing sensation around the city.
In 2019, Shera also joined the Shiv Sena, a political party with its roots in Mumbai. So, there you have it, Shera is more than just Salman Khan’s bodyguard. He’s an entrepreneur in the personal security space, and like all entrepreneurs who’ve managed to establish a successful business, is now enjoying the fruits of success.
Previously a full import through the completely built unit (CBU) route, the Range Rover Sport luxury SUV is now assembled in India through the completely knocked down (CKD) route. This has made the luxury SUV a lot more affordable, relatively speaking, as ex-showroom prices have dropped to Rs. 1.4 crore, from about Rs. 1.7 crore.
In fact, Shera is probably one of the first group of buyers who’ve purchased the locally assembled Range Rover Sport as deliveries commenced only on the 16th of August 2024. Land Rover sold 404 units of the Range Rover Sport last year, and this year volumes are expected to go up significantly thanks to the price drop. Waiting times are also expected to reduce significantly due to local assembly making the luxury SUV a lot more accessible.
The Range Rover Sport assembled in India is offered with two engine options – a 3 liter V6 turbocharged diesel (346 Bhp-700 Nm) and a 3 liter V6 turbo charged petrol (394 Bhp-550 Nm). Both engines use 8 speed automatic gearboxes to transmit torque to all four wheels of the SUV, which in typical Range Rover fashion, can take on good roads, bad roads and no roads.
As for luxury, the Range Rover Sport assembled in India comes in a single trim level called Dynamic SE. Key features in this trim include powered front seats with heating and ventilation, ventilated rear seat with power adjustable recline function, a 11.4 inch rear seat entertainment system, a Meridian sound system with 3D surround, quad zone climate control, soft close doors, gesture control equipped hatch lid, a 360 degree camera, air suspension with adaptive height control, adaptive cruise control and Terrain Response for the all wheel drive system with two off road modes.
The Range Rover Sport is also available in a top-of-the-line Autobiography and SV Edition one variants that continue to be full imports. While the Autobiography trim is available with the 3 liter V6 turbo diesel and petrol engines, it also gets a variant powered by a plug-in hybrid with a 3 liter turbo petrol V6 engine paired to an electric motor for a combined output of 453 Bhp-660 Nm, the SV Edition One gets a 4.4 liter V8 turbo petrol motor with 626 Bhp-750 Nm. While the Autobiography Hybrid variant is priced at Rs. 2.1 crore, the SV Edition One sits at Rs. 2.8 crore. So, ex-showroom prices of the Range Rover Sport vary from Rs. 1.4 crore to Rs. 2.8 crore, while on-road prices range between Rs. 1.7 crore and Rs. 3.5 crore.
