Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) had announced a voluntary recall for their Slavia, Kushaq, Kylaq, Virtus, and Taigun earlier this year. They have now recalled these vehicles for the second time, and this time around, the recall is applicable for units manufactured from December 2021 to May 2025.

Two issues have been mentioned in this voluntary recall from the group. The first issue is with the metal base frame of the rear seat belt assembly. Cracks have been seen in the metal base frame. This issue has been identified in both the left and right side units of the car.

In the second issue, it was noted that an incorrect part or parts have been installed in the front and rear seat belts. While the manufacturer has done a voluntary recall, they have not mentioned the potential risks. In the first recall done by the brands earlier this year, it was mentioned that the issue may lead to failure of the rear seat belt. This would have created issues for passengers sitting in the rear seat in case of a frontal collision.

The current, or the second, recall doesn’t share any such details. Skoda Kylaq, Kushaq, and Slavia are being recalled due to these issues, along with Volkswagen’s Virtus and Taigun. For both brands, cars manufactured between December 2021 and May 2025 are being recalled.

The exact number of cars impacted by this recall is not mentioned. In the first recall, 21,513 units of Volkswagen cars (Taigun and Virtus) and 25,722 units of Skoda cars (Kylaq, Slavia, and Kushaq) manufactured between 24th May 2024 and 1st April 2025 were impacted.

The repairs or replacements are likely to be provided free of cost to customers. Both Volkswagen and Skoda are likely to call the customers individually to inform them about the issue and book an appointment to fix it. Both Skoda and Volkswagen also have recall pages on their websites.

To check if your car falls under the current recall, you can simply visit the page and enter your vehicle’s VIN number. As this is a safety-related issue, it is advised for all customers to get the faulty part replaced at the earliest. The first recall only affected the rear seat belts, but the new one affects the front ones too.

Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus, Skoda Kushaq, Slavia, and the Kylaq are all based on the same platform. In fact, they share several features and parts with each other. Both Skoda and Volkswagen’s compact sedans and SUVs are offered with two petrol engine options.
