Skoda’s First Electric SUV For India: Launch Details Revealed

Skoda Auto India recently launched its sub-4-meter SUV, Kylaq, in the Indian market. The SUV has been receiving a good response from customers. Like all manufacturers, Skoda also has electric vehicles in its lineup, and it is planning to launch an EV in India later this year. Skoda will be launching its first EV, the Enyaq, by September 2025.
Skoda had unveiled the Enyaq at the Bharat Mobility Expo. In an interview with Autocar Professional, Petr Janeba mentioned that Skoda values the classic car shape, and with demand for SUVs rising globally, Skoda is also adapting to appeal to its customers. During the media drive of the Skoda Kylaq, we spotted the Enyaq EV in Goa, and a quick video of the same is available on our Instagram page.
Coming to the details, the Enyaq is an SUV that is 4,658 mm long, 1,879 mm wide, and 1,622 mm tall. The electric SUV comes with a 2,765 mm wheelbase. Internationally, a facelifted version of the Enyaq has been released. It remains to be seen whether we get the updated or the older version in the Indian market. Hopefully, we’ll be getting the facelifted version and not the one we spotted in Goa.
The front end of the Enyaq facelift gets a sleek-looking Skoda signature butterfly grille, which extends to meet the LED DRLs. The split headlamp setup gives it a premium and sharp look.
The bumper on the EV has been optimized to improve aerodynamics. Coming to the side profile, the Enyaq EV looks similar to the Elroq SUV from the manufacturer. It features several sharp character lines with large wheel arches. The rear of the SUV also looks sharp with C-shaped LED tail lamps and Skoda lettering on the tailgate.
The Enyaq electric SUV is based on the MEB platform, which is dedicated to EVs. As this is a Skoda, the Enyaq will come with a premium-looking cabin. In the images circulating online, the steering wheel has Skoda lettering instead of the badge. The layered dashboard features a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 5-inch fully digital instrument cluster, and many more features like a HUD.
The Skoda Enyaq also offers premium features like a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable driver and co-passenger seats, ventilated front seats, three-zone climate control, and more. Like many manufacturers, Skoda has also utilized recycled materials for the seat upholstery.
Skoda is likely to launch the Enyaq 85 variant in the Indian market. This version of the EV gets a 77 kWh battery pack. It is a single-motor variant capable of generating 282 bhp and 310 Nm of peak torque. As this is an EV, the Enyaq is quick too, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.2 seconds.
The claimed driving range for the Enyaq 85 variant is around 588 km. The Skoda Enyaq is definitely going to be a premium product that will compete with the likes of the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Volvo C40 Recharge, and BYD Atto 3. If Volkswagen launches its first EV, the ID.4, in India, it will also be one of its rivals.
