Skoda Auto India’s made-in-India products like Kushaq, Kylaq, and Slavia have been recalled by the brand. More than 25,000 units of these mass-segment models have been recalled over an issue with the rear seat belt.

The manufacturer mentioned that there is an issue with the seat belt for the rear passengers. In case of an accident or frontal collision, the rear seatbelt buckle latch plate may break, and the webbing of the rear center seatbelt assembly, along with the buckle of the rear right seatbelt, may fail.

As per the reports, the cars that were manufactured between the period of 24 May 2024 and 1 April 2025 are affected under this recall. As per the details, around 25,772 units across all three models are affected. If you are a customer who owns a car that was manufactured during this period, you will get a call from the authorised dealership or service centre.

You can also get in touch with the service centre to have a better understanding. The cars affected by the issue are likely to be repaired by the brand at no additional cost. All three cars have scored 5-star ratings in crash tests.

Skoda Kushaq

Skoda Kushaq was the first product to be launched in the Indian market under Skoda’s new brand strategy. It is a made-in-India SUV based on the MQ A0 IN platform. The SUV is designed to look like other SUVs from the Skoda family.

The Kushaq doesn’t come with a diesel engine and is loaded with a decent number of features like ventilated seats, airbags, leatherette upholstery, touchscreen infotainment system, electric sunroof, and so on. Skoda Kushaq is available with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that generates 115 PS and 178 Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission option.

The next engine option is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates 150 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. It is also offered with a manual and 7-speed DSG gearbox. The price for the Kushaq starts at Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Skoda Slavia

The mid-size sedan is also based on the same platform as the Kushaq. It offers similar features as the SUV. It is powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI engine and a 1.5-litre TSI engine. Both these engines are available with manual, automatic, and DSG (1.5 TSI) gearbox options. The price for the Slavia sedan starts at Rs 10.34 lakh (ex-showroom).

Skoda Kylaq

This is the recent product from Skoda in India. It is, in fact, their first sub-4-meter SUV which is also made in India. The SUV is positioned below the Kushaq and rivals the likes of Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, and Kia Sonet in the segment. It offers a decent number of features along with manual and automatic transmission options. It is available with a 1.0-litre TSI engine only. However, a 1.5-litre RS version of the Kylaq might come to the market in the future.

The Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus are also based on the same platform and share several parts. It needs to be seen if the same issue has been detected in Volkswagen models or not and whether there will be an official recall from Volkswagen.
