Currently, the Skoda Kushaq is the most successful product in the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India group’s lineup which utilizes the MQB A0 IN platform. This compact SUV has helped Skoda achieve a lot of success in India. So, in order to keep the ball rolling, Skoda is working on the development of four new Skoda Kushaqs. Yes, you heard that right. In the coming few years, we will be seeing a total of four different Skoda Kushaqs. Here are the details of each of them.

Skoda Kushaq Facelift

The first new Skoda Kushaq to be launched in India will be the Kushaq facelift. This new model will make its debut next year and will still be based on the same MQB A0 IN platform. It will boast a number of updates, including a revamped front fascia and a few changes on the side profile and rear end.

One of the biggest updates of the new Skoda Kushaq will be the addition of a panoramic sunroof on the inside. It will also come equipped with ADAS Level 2, which has become a popular premium feature in India. Additionally, it will be equipped with a 360-degree camera and connected car technology.

As for the powertrain, the Kushaq facelift will continue with the same engine options. These include the 1.0-litre TSI petrol motor, which makes 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, and the 1.5-litre TSI petrol, which makes 148 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.

Next Generation Kushaq

Apart from the facelifted version of the current generation Kushaq, Skoda has reportedly also started working on the new generation of the Kushaq. The all-new Kushaq will be launching by 2027. It is believed that the new model will be based on the MQB A0 37 platform. This renewed architecture will be larger than the current generation MQB A0 IN platform.

This will help Skoda make the new generation model wider and longer to better compete with larger rivals like the Hyundai Creta and others. As for the design, Skoda will most likely continue utilizing their “Modern Solid” design language.

Presently, the powertrain options for the upcoming generation of the Kushaq have not been revealed. However, it is believed that it will feature updated TSI engines. Reports have stated that Skoda could also introduce a strong hybrid powertrain with the new Kushaq, as the larger MQB A0 37 will be able to accommodate it.

Skoda wanted to make a 7-seater version of the current generation Kushaq. However, the limitations of the MQB A0 IN platform stopped the company from doing so. But it has now been reported that the company is planning to introduce a 7-seater version of the new generation Kushaq.

The larger and more versatile MQB A0 37 platform can be lengthened to add an extra row of seats. Most likely, the 7-seater Kushaq will make its debut around 2027-2028 once the new generation is launched in India. More details on the upcoming 7-seater Kushaq will be revealed in the future.

Kushaq EV

Last on the Kushaq lineup is the electrified iteration of this popular compact SUV. According to reports, Skoda is currently evaluating the CMP 21 platform, which is derived from VW’s MEB architecture. This platform will be tailored to launch affordable electric models in India.

The Skoda Kushaq EV could come with a battery pack ranging from 40 kWh to 80 kWh. At the moment, the exact details on the EV powertrain of the Kushaq EV have not been revealed. However, the CMP 21 platform offers rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. Most likely, the Kushaq EV will also make its debut after 2027.
