Both the Slavia and Kushaq are products of VW Group’s India 2.0 project. This means they are twins to the Virtus and Taigun. All four vehicles share the same platform- the made-in-India MQB A0 IN- a heavily localized version of VW’s MQB A0 architecture.
The Kushaq and Slavia share identical engines and gearboxes, both turbocharged with direct injection technology. However, only the larger mill is equipped with active cylinder deactivation technology, which allows it to deactivate 2 cylinders under lighter loads, to enhance fuel efficiency.
The 1.0-litre TSI, 3-cylinder petrol engine produces 118 Bhp and 175 Nm, and it comes with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine generates 148 Bhp and 250 Nm. This engine is paired with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed twin-clutch automatic gearbox. The smaller 1.0-litre engine is designed for city driving, while the larger mill is better suited for highway runs, offering strong, enjoyable experiences on long drives.
The Kushaq and Slavia have both been highly successful for the Skoda in India. In 2022, these played a pivotal role in helping Skoda achieve its best-ever sales numbers in the country.
Their strong performance in the Indian market contributed significantly to the brand’s growth and popularity at large. These are also known for their solid build quality, impressive German engineering, sporty and fun-to-drive engines, superb handling, and a host of modern features, making them great value for money. The newest discounts only enhance this VFM quotient.
Also to note is the fact that Skoda has lately been rolling out attractive discounts and customer benefits on the Kushaq and Slavia. The duo had up to 3.23 lakh discounts in March, this year.
The Kushaq and Slavia have both seen several special editions in the past, all introduced to keep the two fresh and appealing. Last year, Skoda brought in the Matte and Elegance editions, followed by the recent launch of the Slavia Style Edition. Skoda continues to innovate and expand its domestic portfolio and has plans to launch a new compact SUV next year.
