Earlier this month, the Czech automaker Skoda launched the all-new Kylaq sub-compact SUV in India. At the time of its launch, the company revealed that its starting price would be Rs 7.89 lakh. Now, on the 2nd of December, the company will finally reveal the pricing for all variants of the Kylaq. For those who may not remember, the Skoda Kylaq will be offered in four variants.

Skoda Kylaq: Price Reveal

As mentioned, the newest entrant in the sub-compact SUV segment will be offered in four variants. Namely, these will be Classic, Signature, Signature+, and Prestige. The pricing for all of these variants will be revealed on December 2nd, and bookings will commence on the same day.

Skoda will commence deliveries of the Kylaq from January 27. At the moment, the Kylaq is the most affordable Skoda model in India and will compete with well-established rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, and the Kia Sonet.

Skoda Kylaq: Details

The Kylaq, like its siblings, Kushaq and Slavia, is based on the same MQB A0 IN platform. This platform was specifically designed by Volkswagen Skoda Auto to launch cars tailored to the needs of Indian car buyers. Dimensionally, the new Kylaq will measure 230 mm shorter than the Kushaq and boasts a length of 3,995 mm. Its wheelbase is also 85 mm shorter than the Kushaq.

Coming to the design, the Kylaq looks unmistakably Skoda. It boasts the same “Modern Solid” design philosophy, which includes sharp cuts and creases while maintaining sophistication. At the front, this SUV will come with a split LED headlight setup, with LED DRLs up top and LED headlights set in the middle portion of the bumper.

The center stage is taken by the signature Skoda butterfly grille, and the lower bumper gets a honeycomb pattern. The side profile features a good amount of black cladding over the wheel arches and beautiful-looking 17-inch multispoke alloy wheels.

As for the rear, the SUV gets a distinct design for its taillights and also features the new Skoda lettering logo in the center. Additionally, there is a chunky black bumper with a massive silver skid plate. A rear wiper and shark fin antenna are also included.

Interior: Design and Features

Skoda has continued the same theme of sophistication on the inside of the Kylaq as well. It gets a very simple yet functional dashboard layout with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system dominating the center portion. It also features horizontally positioned AC vents, and the HVAC controls have been placed underneath them.

In terms of features, the Kylaq will come equipped with a two-spoke steering wheel, an 8-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, a sunroof, keyless entry, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front seat ventilation, powered front seats, and leather upholstery. Additionally, the Kylaq also gets a cooled glovebox.

Skoda Kylaq: Powertrain

Now coming to the powertrain of this sub-compact SUV, Skoda will offer it with the same 1.0-litre TSI engine that is available in both the Kushaq and Slavia. This engine is capable of producing 115 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. It will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 0-100 kmph sprint happens in just 10.5 seconds.
