Exclusive: Skoda Kylaq Prices Hiked

The Czech automaker Skoda is currently having a blast with the launch of the sub-compact SUV Kylaq. It was launched with a starting price tag of Rs 7.89 lakh, which made it a very competitive offering in the market. Now, thanks to the increased demand, Skoda has raised the pricing on the Kylaq, and it now starts at Rs 8.25 lakh, making it Rs 36,000 more expensive than before. The good news, however, is that the prices of the higher variants of the Kylaq have reduced as well. The biggest drop in price is of Rs 46,000 on the Prestige MT variant.
Starting with the base Classic variant, which is offered with a single manual transmission option, it is now priced at Rs 8.25 lakh. This makes it Rs 36,000 more expensive than before. Then there is the Signature variant, which is offered with both MT and AT gearboxes. The pricing of the MT variant has been increased by Rs 26,000, and it now costs Rs 9.85 lakh.
As for the AT variant, it is now priced at Rs 10.95 lakh, making it Rs 36,000 more expensive. Next up in the lineup is the Signature+ variant, which, unlike the lower variants, has seen a reduction of Rs 15,000 (MT). Meanwhile, the AT variant has seen a reduction of Rs 5,000. The Prestige variant, which is the most expensive variant, has seen the highest reduction of Rs 46,000 (MT) and Rs 41,000 (AT).
The Skoda Kylaq is currently the best-selling Skoda in India. Over the last three months, the company has sold 1,242 units in January, 3,636 units in February, and 5,327 units in March. Of these sales, the base Classic trim is currently the most popular variant in the Kylaq lineup. As mentioned above, it only comes with a manual gearbox.
Skoda offers the Kylaq Classic with LED headlights and DRLs, LED taillights, 16-inch steel rims, and roof rails on the outside. As for the features on the inside, it gets a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, power windows, and an analog gauge cluster with a digital MID.
Additionally, it also comes equipped with a manual air conditioning system, fabric upholstery, auto engine start-stop, adjustable headrests for all passengers, six airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, stability control, an electronic differential lock, ISOFIX seat anchors, and many others.
The next popular trim is the Signature trim, which adds features like 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, a rear defogger, a 7-inch infotainment system, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. It also gets USB Type-C charging ports, a front armrest, chrome garnish, a parcel tray, a cooled glovebox, and a few others.
Skoda offers the Kylaq Prestige+ and Prestige variants with features like 17-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming IRVMs, ventilated and powered front seats, interior ambient lighting, and others.
All of the Kylaq variants come equipped with the same 1.0-litre TSI engine, which makes 115 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. The higher-spec variants, along with the 6-speed manual gearbox, also come with an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic as well.
