Skoda Kylaq Sub-Compact SUV’s Waiting Period Hits 4 Months

Skoda Kylaq has managed to bring a lot of success to the Czech automaker. Recently, the company commenced the deliveries and test drives of the Skoda Kylaq in India. Now, it has been reported that the Kylaq is commanding a waiting period of between two to four months. The Skoda Kylaq, for those who may not be aware, is offered in four variants, namely Classic, Signature, Signature+, and Prestige.
According to reports, the base Classic variant has a maximum waiting period of four months. This particular variant is only available with a manual gearbox and in three colors, including red, silver, and white. As for the pricing, this variant is priced at Rs 7.89 lakh. What’s even more interesting is that currently, Skoda India has stopped taking reservations for this variant.
The company aims to deliver 33,000 units of the Kylaq in its first batch. In this batch, it will deliver more Signature+ and Prestige variants. Hence, the waiting periods for these variants are around two to three months. As for the mid-spec Signature variant, the waiting periods are around three to four months.
The base Classic trim is currently the most popular variant in the Kylaq lineup. As mentioned above, it only comes with a manual gearbox. Its other offerings include LED headlights and DRLs, LED taillights, 16-inch steel rims, and roof rails on the outside. As for the features on the inside, it gets a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, power windows, and an analog gauge cluster with a digital MID.
Additionally, it also comes equipped with a manual air conditioning system, fabric upholstery, auto engine start-stop, adjustable headrests for all passengers, six airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, stability control, an electronic differential lock, ISOFIX seat anchors, and many others.
The next popular trim is the Signature trim, adds features like 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, a rear defogger, a 7-inch infotainment system, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. It also gets USB Type-C charging ports, a front armrest, chrome garnish, a parcel tray, a cooled glovebox, and a few others.
Higher-spec variants of the Kylaq get features like 17-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming IRVMs, ventilated and powered front seats, interior ambient lighting, and others. All of the Kylaq variants come equipped with the same 1.0-litre TSI engine, which makes 115 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. The higher-spec variants, along with the 6-speed manual gearbox, also come with an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic as well.
Skoda is enjoying success with the Kylaq in its current form. However, it is still developing a more performance-oriented version of this SUV. This new model will be called the Kylaq RS, and it will feature the bigger and more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. It will make 150 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, like its siblings, the Kushaq and Slavia.
As for the transmission options, this new model will get a 6-speed manual gearbox as well as a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Experts believe that this model could become a bigger hit than the Kushaq, as currently, there are not many subcompact SUVs that offer such high power figures. It has been reported that the Skoda Kylaq RS could be launched in 2026. As for the pricing, it is expected to be priced at a premium of Rs 1-1.5 lakh over the standard Kushaq.
