Skoda To Launch 3 New Electric SUVs In India: Details

Skoda has finally confirmed its intentions to enter the EV segment in India, and has also given out key details on what models are to be expected and around when. The Czech giant is definitely late to the EV game here, but could soon make up for it, with a proper product plan. Here are three new electric SUV launches expected from Skoda in the coming years:
Skoda has long been rumoured to launch the Enyaq in the Indian market. The manufacturer was considering the vehicle for a potential India launch early this year. However, these plans were put on hold as a major facelift was being readied globally, which would feature key styling deviations from the previous model and adhere to the new age ‘Modern Solid’ design philosophy. Brand director Petr Janeba recently confirmed this. Skoda plans to bring the facelift to India, and the vehicle will be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025.
As per Janeba, the facelift will look much better than the previous model, and will launch in March next year. It could come with a bold grille, sleek LED lights, and more aerodynamic elements. Though little is known about it yet, the cabin could get more technology and features.
The new Enyaq will also be underpinned by Volkswagen Group’s MEB (Modular Electric Drive Matrix) platform. The brand is expected to bring the Enyaq 80 variant to India- which gets a single motor setup mated to an 82 kWh battery pack that claims to offer 500 km in range. The power and torque outputs will likely be 282 bhp and 310 Nm respectively. The EV will most likely be able to do the 0-100 kph sprint in 6.7 seconds.
Skoda prefers to adopt the CKD route for the Enyaq. The manufacturer has two manufacturing facilities in India, of which the Chakan plant will be modified to assemble the Enyaq. ₹15,000 crore will be allotted for this.
The second EV slated for India is the Elroq. The carmaker took the wraps off this electric SUV in October this year. Also based on the MEB platform, the Elroq offers three battery choices globally- 55 kWh, 63 kWh and 82 kWh with claimed ranges of 370, 400 and 560 km respectively. It remains to be seen which of these will be launched in India. Globally, there are four variants and both RWD and AWD are available.
The Elroq is a good-looking car. Key exterior highlights include the “Teck-deck Face” and the “four-eyes” LED DRLs. The vehicle also comes with a closed-off front grille, split LED headlights set, silver skid plate, and stylish air dam, among others.
The cabin gets a minimalistic layout for the dashboard, a massive 13-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, Laura Voice assistant with ChatGPT integration. The Elroq also has remote parking, MySkoda App connectivity and remote vehicle charging, in global markets. It remains to be seen how much of these features will be available on the India-spec.
Even though we don’t have a clear launch timeline yet, the Elroq is expected to reach India later next year- probably towards the end of it.
Skoda is also known to be working on an all-electric version of the Kushaq. Very little is known about it as it is still in its developmental phases. The carmaker intends to price it below 20 lakh and is still finalising the EV architecture that is to be used on this product. Upon its launch in 2027, the Kushaq EV will compete with the Nexon EV and MG Windsor in the domestic market.
