After Acing Global NCAP, India's Safest Hatchback Scores 5 Stars In Bharat NCAP Crash Test

Tata Motors is known for making a lot of safe cars. Most of its cars have scored a 5-star safety rating in the Global as well as Bharat New Car Assessment Program. Recently, the newly launched Altroz facelift was tested by BNCAP, and it was able to achieve a perfect 5-star safety rating. This now makes the Altroz the safest premium hatchback in India, placing it above the Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, and Toyota Glanza.
In the Adult Occupant Protection tests, the Tata Altroz scored an overall 29.65 points out of 32. It was first tested in the frontal offset deformable barrier test. In this, it was able to achieve a score of 15.55 out of 16 points. It was reported that the driver had good protection for the head, neck, chest, and feet. Also, there was adequate protection for both legs as well.
The co-driver was also noted to have good protection for all critical body parts. Then, in the side movable deformable barrier test, it scored 14.11 points out of 16. BNCAP noted that there was good protection for the head and pelvis and adequate protection for the abdominal area. As for the chest, it had marginal protection. In the side pole impact test, the driver received good protection.
Bharat NCAP also tested the Altroz facelift for Child Occupant Protection as well. It was found that the dynamic score was 23.90 out of 24. As for the Child Restraint System installation score, it was 12/12. In the vehicle assessment score, the Altroz facelift managed to score 9/13.
The testing results found that the 3-year-old dummy was fully protected. It scored a perfect 8 out of 8 points in the frontal crash and 4 out of 4 in the side crash. As for the 18-month-old dummy, the scores were 7.90/8 and 4/4 in the front and side crash tests. Overall, the Tata Altroz is a very safe vehicle.
In terms of safety features offered by Tata Motors in the new Altroz facelift, it gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control, 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, seatbelt reminders for all passengers, and ISOFIX child seat mounts in the rear. Higher trims offer a 360-degree camera and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Over the previous model, the new Altroz facelift gets full LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs, revised front and rear bumpers, and a brand-new grille. It also gets new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and flush-type door handles. The rear LED taillights are also new and offer a connecting light bar in the middle.
On the inside, the new Altroz gets a 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch HD unit by Harman, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets an 8-speaker premium audio system and customisable audio modes—the AudioworX.
Other highlights include a single-pane sunroof, connected car tech, a wireless charger, climate control with rear AC vents, push-button start/stop, cruise control, auto-folding ORVMs, and revised ambient lighting.
Powertrain-wise, Tata has not changed anything. It still gets the same 1.5-litre diesel engine, producing 88.76 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. The facelifted model also comes with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine. The Altroz is also offered in the Racer trim. Pricing starts at Rs 6.89 lakh and goes up to Rs 11.49 lakh.
