Just-Launched Tata Altroz Racer: Video Brochure Out

Tata recently launched the most powerful iteration of their popular premium hatchback, the Altroz, as the Altroz Racer in the market. The manufacturer has released several TVCs and official images of the new Altroz Racer online. We now have a new video which actually acts as a video brochure for the Altroz Racer.

The video has been shared by Tata Motors on their official YouTube channel. In this video, we see all the features that Tata is offering with the Racer variant. It starts by showing the cabin and the features in it. The Altroz Racer comes with a wireless phone charger, leatherette black upholstery with racing stripes, a 10.25-inch new touchscreen infotainment system, and orange accents around the AC vents and center console.

The car also gets a ventilation feature for the front seats. We then see the new all-digital instrument cluster which displays all important information related to the car. The exterior design of the Altroz Racer is just like the regular hatchback. The front grille has minor changes, and the color theme is also different.

It gets a dual-tone paint job which makes it look sportier than before. The bonnet and the roof are blacked out, and there are racing stripes on it too. We see the Racer badge on the front fenders as well. The car comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, which are the same as the regular version. However, the alloy wheels are finished in a gunmetal finish for a sportier appeal.

The Tata Altroz Racer is available in three shades: Atomic Orange, Avenue White, and Pure Grey. All three shades are offered with a contrasting black roof and bonnet along with racing stripes. Other than the paint job, the car remains exactly the same. It also comes with a twin-tip exhaust which produces a sporty note.

Tata is offering the Altroz Racer in R1, R2, and R3 variants. The R1 variant gets 16-inch alloy wheels, 6 airbags, leatherette seats, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and many more features. Features like the electric sunroof, digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, connected car features, and front ventilated seats are limited to the R2 and R3 variants.

The R1 variant is priced at Rs 9.49 lakh, ex-showroom. The R2 variant is priced at Rs 10.49 lakh, ex-showroom, and the top-end R3 is priced at Rs 10.99 lakh, ex-showroom. It competes with the Hyundai i20 N Line and when compared to the Hyundai, the Altroz Racer is much more affordable. The price for the Hyundai i20 starts at Rs 10 lakh, ex-showroom, and goes up to Rs 12.52 lakh.

The i20 N Line is offered with both manual and DCT gearbox options, which are missing in the Altroz Racer. Regarding the engine, the Tata Altroz Racer uses the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged engine that is offered with the iTurbo. However, for the Racer version, it is tuned differently. This engine now generates 120 PS and 170 Nm of peak torque. It is the same tune as seen in the Nexon petrol.

It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This is not the first time Tata has launched a sportier version of a regular model in the market. Earlier, they had launched the Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP.
