Tata Curvv: 10 Things You Need To Know

Tata Motors recently took the covers off of its newest and most unique offering, the Curvv Coupe SUV, in India. This model, which is slated to be launched on August 7, has piqued the interest of a ton of SUV enthusiasts in India. As we all know, the most unique element of the Curvv will be its sloping coupe-like roofline. However, apart from this, there are 10 more things that you need to know about.
As the Tata Curvv is being launched as a premium product that will sit above the sub-compact SUV Nexon, the company will be offering it with a panoramic sunroof. In its official teaser, the SUV was shown with a dual-pane panoramic sunroof. Currently, the Harrier and Safari offer panoramic sunroofs in the Tata lineup.
Tata Motors will also be offering the Curvv with ADAS Level 2 and a 360-degree camera. The ADAS suite of Curvv will include emergency braking, forward and rear collision warning, blind-spot detection, door open alert, rear cross-traffic alert, high beam assist, and traffic sign recognition.
The Tata Curvv will become the first car in Tata’s lineup to get flush-type door handles. Currently, in India, the Mahindra XUV700 is the only affordable SUV with this unique type of door handle.
To add to the premiumness of the Curvv, Tata Motors will also be offering this coupe SUV with ventilated and powered front seats. This feature is becoming more popular in the top-spec variants of a lot of mid-size SUVs in the country. These include Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and others.
Like the Nexon, Tata Motors, in order to lure in as many buyers as it can, will be offering the Curvv with all three powertrain options. These will include petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains. Firstly, the company will be launching the Curvv EV with a battery pack ranging between 55-60 kWh. Reportedly, it will offer a range of around 500 km.
As for the petrol engine, it will be getting a new 1.2-litre TGDi engine which makes around 125 PS of power and 225 Nm of torque. It will come with options between a DCT and a 6-speed manual. Lastly, there will also be a 1.5-litre diesel on offer which will make around 115 PS and 260 Nm and come with a 6-speed manual transmission.
As part of the safety suite, the Curvv coupe SUV will also come equipped with disc brakes on all four wheels. It will also come with six airbags, ABS with EBD, three-point seatbelts with reminders for all passengers, and traction control. The Curvv will also get a blind spot monitor as well.
Tata Motors will also be offering the Curvv coupe SUV with an electronic parking brake. It will also be getting the auto hold feature, which helps the car from rolling back on a slope.
Generally, this feature is not seen on budget-level cars. However, Tata Motors will be making the Curvv the first affordable car in India with a Driver Drowsiness Detection system.
Adding to the list of premium features, Tata Motors will be offering the Curvv with touch-based HVAC controls. We have already seen this on the Nexon, Nexon EV, Harrier, and Safari facelifts.
As the Tata Curvv will be boasting a length of around 4.3 meters, it will be sitting above the Nexon and below the Harrier in Tata’s SUV lineup. The ICE model will be competing in the mid-size SUV segment. Currently, this is the most competitive SUV segment in India.
The list of Curvv’s competition includes Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and a ton of others. As for the Curvv EV, it will be taking on the MG ZS EV in India.
