Tata Motors launched the petrol and diesel versions of the Curvv coupe earlier this week, revealing the prices of its manual variants. Prices of the automatic variants are now out. The petrol DCT (dual-clutch transmission) is priced between Rs 12.5 lakh and Rs 19 lakh, while the diesel versions range from Rs 14 lakh to Rs 19 lakh.

Tata Curvv Petrol/Diesel Powertrains

The Curvv is built on Tata’s newly developed ATLAS platform, which will also find places on the upcoming Sierra, Harrier and Safari facelifts. There are three engine options on offer: a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 120hp and 170Nm of torque, a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 118hp, and the new 1.2-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol ‘Hyperion’ engine, delivering 125hp and 225Nm.

All three engines come with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard but also offer the choice of a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic option (DCT). Tata Curvv is the only mass-market diesel car in India to offer a DCT gearbox. Let’s now look at the introductory ex-showroom prices of various DCT variants of the Curvv:

Curvv: Design, Interior And Features

The exterior of the Curvv coupe resembles the Curvv.EV in many areas of its design. There are also a handful of key differentiating cues between the two. A quick example is the front grille. Unlike the blanked-out grille of the EV, the Curvv ICE features a unique grille design with rectangular elements, giving it a more premium and refined appearance.

.The front bumper gets a new design. Other highlights include LED headlights and connected LED DRLs, good-looking 18-inch alloy wheels, sloping roofline, flush type door handles, gloss Black body claddings, double-bubble roof spoiler, shark fin antenna, connected LED tail lamps and a new rear bumper with body-coloured skid plates.

The interior remains identical to that of the EV. The colour theme, however, differs between the two. The petrol/diesel versions have interiors finished in black and burgundy. The EV, on the other hand, has black and light grey colours inside.

Furthermore, the ICE version comes packed with features like a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, ambient mood lighting, voice-assisted panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 9-speaker JBL audio system, 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, wireless charger, air purifier, electrochromic IRVM, powered & ventilated front seats, electronically controlled boot lid, and an illuminated & cooled glovebox.

Tata Curvv Market Placement And Rivals

In the Indian market, the Curvv petrol/diesel versions compete with the likes of Citroen Basalt and C-SUVs like the Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara/Hyryder, Elevate, Taigun, Astor and Kushaq. Recently Kia and Hyundai rolled out new variants and special editions on the Seltos and Creta, to stay strong in the race.
