2 New Dark Edition SUVs From Tata And Citroen Launching Soon

Dark Editions have become so popular lately that almost every manufacturer in the country is either planning or has already launched one in the market. The black shade somehow changes the overall look of the car and makes it look more premium than before. We have manufacturers like Tata, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, and Hyundai offering their models in black, but all these shades are called by different names. Here, we have two new Dark Edition SUVs that are soon to be introduced in the market—one from Tata and the other from Citroën.
Tata has a variety of models under the Dark Edition badge in their lineup. They offer Dark Editions for SUVs like the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari, as well as for the Altroz hatchback. It looks like Tata’s latest offering, the Curvv, will also get the Dark Edition treatment.
Tata has not officially launched the Curvv Dark Edition, but it has started arriving at dealerships. We have come across several videos and images of the upcoming SUV, and it looks good. The exterior of the SUV will get an all-black treatment with blacked-out alloy wheels to match the theme. The chrome inserts on the grille have been retained, and it gets a Dark Edition badge on the front fender too.
Just like all other Dark Edition models, we expect an all-black cabin in the Curvv as well. The SUV will get #Dark branding on the headrests and minor cosmetic changes. Other than this, it will continue to offer all the features of the regular Curvv SUV.
The Dark Edition is likely to be based on the mid and higher-variant models, which come with decent features. The Tata Curvv Dark Edition will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The Curvv comes with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that generates 120 PS and 170 Nm of peak torque.
This engine comes with manual and DCT gearbox options. The new 1.2-litre Hyperion series turbo petrol engine generates 125 PS and 225 Nm of peak torque. The 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine generates 118 PS and 260 Nm of peak torque. All engine options are available with manual and DCT gearbox options.
Another Dark Edition SUV that will be launched in the Indian market is the Citroën Basalt. We are not sure if this version of the Basalt will be officially called the Dark Edition or given a different name. A teaser image of the upcoming SUV has been released online. Just like all other Dark Edition models in the market, Citroën will offer the SUV in an all-black shade along with blacked-out wheels and an interior.
The SUV will continue to draw its power from a 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol engine. Unlike the Curvv, Citroën doesn’t offer a diesel engine with the Basalt. It was India’s first coupe SUV, but unfortunately, it has not been doing well in terms of sales. The upcoming Dark Edition version is likely to boost sales slightly. Apart from the Basalt, Citroën is also planning to introduce Dark Edition versions of the C3 and Aircross in the market.
