Tata Curvv Coupe SUV Bookings Unofficially Open: New Teaser Video Shares Design Philosophy

Tata is all set to launch their new product, Curvv, in the Indian market. It is going to be a one-of-a-kind SUV in its segment. We have already seen several images and videos of test mules and the production-ready version of the upcoming Curvv SUV. What makes the Curvv different from other Tata cars or other SUVs is its design. Here, we have a video where Martin Ulharik, Vice President of Design at Tata Motors, explains the philosophy behind the Curvv’s design. Meanwhile, bookings for the coupe SUV have unofficially opened at many Tata Motors dealerships across India.
The video has been shared by Tata Motors on their official YouTube channel. In this video, Martin Ulharik is seen talking about the upcoming Tata product. He mentions that when they started with the design process of the Curvv, it was already in their minds that it would be an SUV coupe. The Curvv is designed in such a manner that it looks sporty, edgy, and has a dynamic character.
He goes on to say that it is not just the character of the product but also a reflection of the character of the owner. The rear three-quarter design of the Curvv is said to be extremely dynamic and sporty. Martin says that the Curvv’s design is meant to make a statement. The video also mentions that the Curvv is designed to stun and stand out.
Tata’s Curvv was first showcased a few years ago. In 2023, we got to see a more production-ready version of the same in the flesh. Tata is working on both ICE and EV versions of the Curvv, and the electric version of the coupe SUV is expected to launch first. In terms of design, the upcoming SUV will come with a welcome LED bar at the front, which would meet the dual-function LED DRLs.
The headlamps on the Curvv will be placed on the bumper like other Tata products. The upcoming Curvv ICE version is based on the same platform as Nexon. The EV version uses Tata’s updated version of their Acti.ev skateboard platform. It will be positioned between the Nexon and Harrier. It will offer a sharp-looking front and rear bumper with connecting LED tail lamps for a premium look.
Tata Curvv is expected to offer a premium-looking cabin with features like leatherette upholstery, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a new floating-type touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, ADAS, automatic climate control, a multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, and so on.
Tata will offer the Curvv in both EV and ICE forms. The ICE version of the Curvv will get both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version is expected to use an all-new 1.2-liter, three-cylinder, turbocharged engine that will be offered with both manual and automatic transmission. The diesel version will continue to use the same 1.5-liter turbo engine used in many other Tata models. This engine is also expected to come with both manual and automatic/AMT gearbox options.
We don’t have much information available about the Curvv EV; however, the upcoming EV from Tata is expected to offer a driving range of anywhere around 400-500 km. Tata will be launching the Curvv officially on August 7th, 2024.
