The Rs. 12 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh price bracket in Indian is crowded by compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder etc. Tata Motors, with their new SUV plans to disrupt this price segment by introducing the Curvv which has a different design language from others cars in this range. The brand has confirmed that the Curvv will go on sale from August 7.

The production ready version of the Coupe SUV was recently showcased in the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024. Additionally, the brand has been teasing about the SUV through multiple videos.

Now, let’s talk about one biggest differentiator of the Curvv. The upcoming Tata Curvv while feature a Coupe SUV design. For those who don’t know Coupe SUVs are the cars which have a sloping roofline for better aerodynamics and a high ground clearance similar to that of a SUV. This means that Coupe SUVs can drive more efficiently while being able to handle some rough patches.

The Curvv is based on the same platform as the Nexon but a bit modified. In the front, the Tata Curvv will get a high set bonnet with a LED light bar (DRL) similar to what we have seen in Harrier, Safari, Punch EV and the Nexon. On the rear, it will get similar treatment with connecting tail lamps.

Overall, the Curvv will feature a design language similar to other Tata cars. The side profile of the Coupe SUV is quite eye catching with its sloping roofline. A major disadvantage of such design is reduced head space in the rear seats. However, this can be judges only after the car is launched.

In terms of dimensions, the Curvv will measure bigger than the Nexon and smaller than the Harrier. In the cabin, the car will get a very minimalist theme. It will feature two digital displays, one for the infotainment screen and the other for the instrument cluster.

The steering wheel can be borrowed from the existing models to reduce costs. Some of the features of the Tata Curvv include Level two ADAS, an 8-speaker sound system, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, an air purifier and more. Multiple shots of the cabin reveal that it will come with three drive modes which are Eco, City and Sport.

As per reports, the price of the Tata Curvv may start around Rs. 11 lakh and it may top out around Rs. 18 lakh. We can safely expect the Curvv to borrow the 1.5 litre diesel engine from Nexon.

Additionally, Tata Motors were developing a more powerful 1.2 litre GDI turbo petrol engine that could be introduced with the Curvv. Transmission options will include both manual and automatic. An EV version of the Curvv will also be launched on the same day. All in all, the Currv will be India’s first affordable coupe SUV to be available with petrol, diesel and electric powertrains.
