After months of anticipation, Tata Motors has finally taken the covers off the new Curvv and Curvv EV Coupe SUVs in India. Currently, the company has showcased the clay models of these SUVs in their final production spec. The Tata Curvv currently stands out as the first mass-market SUV-coupe. It has been announced that the company will first launch the all-electric version, Curvv EV, on August 7. It will then be followed by the internal combustion engine (ICE) variant.

Unique Design and Segment Positioning

The Tata Curvv is being positioned in the extremely popular and competitive compact SUV segment. Now, as we all know, the main highlight that sets it apart is its SUV-coupe body style. This is a first for both Tata Motors and the segment.

In terms of the exterior design, the Curvv ties in nicely with its elder siblings, the Tata Safari and Harrier. It borrows its general layout of the front fascia from the Nexon facelift. However, it has been made a lot more premium to appeal to a more refined audience.

Starting off with the design of the Tata Curvv ICE, it gets a very premium front fascia with a ton of gloss black details and accent elements. It gets the same signature split headlamp design with rectangular elements like the Safari and Harrier. The center is dominated by a sleek grille and a connected LED DRL.

The lower section of the front bumper is also very aggressive and houses the LED headlights. It also gets a stylish-looking lower section with the same rectangular elements. There is also a silver skid plate.

On the side, the Curvv ICE boasts large petal-like alloy wheels that perfectly fill the squared-off wheel arches. This particular SUV also gets flush door handles, which is a Tata-first feature. As for the rear, the main highlight is its sloping roofline. It also gets sleek connected LED tail lamps that feature welcome and goodbye functionality.

Coming to the exterior design highlights of the Curvv EV, it shares the overall styling with its ICE counterpart. However, it includes subtle yet significant differences that highlight its electric nature.

The Curvv EV features a closed-off grille and tweaked bumper designs at both the front and rear. Additionally, it comes with aerodynamic alloy wheels that look a lot more sporty and futuristic.

Interior Design

At the moment, Tata Motors has only unveiled the final production spec design on the clay models. This means that the final interior design of these cars has not been revealed. However, it is expected to bear a close resemblance to the interiors of the Tata Nexon and Safari.

From all the spy images that we have seen so far, the dashboard will be dominated by a large floating touchscreen infotainment system. There will also be touch controls for the air conditioning and a four-spoke steering wheel.

The main highlight of this new steering wheel will be that it will feature an illuminated Tata logo borrowed from the Harrier and Safari. The interior will likely be available in various color options, depending on the variant.

Features

As for the features, Tata Motors will be leaving no stones unturned. The Tata Curvv is expected to include a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

It will also get dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and a nine-speaker JBL sound system. Additional features will include a powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, drive modes, keyless entry with push-button start, auto headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers.

Safety Equipment

In terms of safety features, Tata Motors will be offering the Curvv with six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera. It will also get an electronic parking brake with auto hold, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, and Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
