Tata’s latest product in the line up is Curvv Coupe SUV. The manufacturer launched the electric version of the Curvv first and the petrol and diesel version of the same followed a month after that. The manufacturer started the delivery of the Curvv.ev in August and the ICE version a month after that. So both SUVs have been in the market for a month and it looks like they are performing well. Tata managed to sell 8,218 units of Curvv (EV, petrol and diesel combined) in the last couple of months.

Tata Motors managed to sell 3,455 units of Curvv EV in August. In September, Tata sold a total of 4,763 units. This figure include both ICE and EV versions. However, the exact numbers of EV and ICE versions are not available. Tata Curvv saw a steady 38 percent increase in demand when compared to the month of August.

When compared to the well established SUVs like Harrier and Safari, newly launched Curvv is doing well. On a average, Tata sells around 1,200 units of Harrier every month. This much less than the monthly average of Curvv. Nexon is still the best seller for Tata as they sell around 12,000 units every month (EV & ICE combined).

The reason why we feel Curvv is performing better than Harrier is due factors like design, features, price and also the availability of the SUV in both electric and petrol, diesel versions. The customer has the choice which is not available with the Harrier. We hope all the above mentioned factors work in favour of the SUV in coming months and the sales number increase.

Tata Curvv is designed as a coupe SUV and the styling element has played an important role in the success of this SUV. It is a design that we have not seen in the affordable SUV segment. With the demand for the SUV rising, the waiting period has also gone up. The Curvv depending on the variant and engine option has a waiting period of anywhere between 4 weeks to 8 weeks.

Tata Curvv is available with two petrol and a diesel engine option. There is a 1.2 litre, three-cylinder, Revotron turbocharged petrol engine that generates 120 Ps and 170 Nm of peak torque. The newly developed 1.2 litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged Hyperion engine generates 125 Ps and 225 Nm of peak torque. The diesel version uses the same old 1.5 litre Kryojet turbocharged engine that generates 116 Bhp and 260 Nm of peak torque.

All three engine options are available with manual and DCA gearbox options. Price for a brand new Tata Curvv starts at Rs 10 lakh, ex-showroom and goes all the way till Rs 19 lakh, ex-showroom.
