First off, let’s talk about the front-end design of the Tata Curvv. It can be noted that this particular car, finished in the stunning shade of red, looks very bold and aggressive. It gets a sleek connected LED DRL at the front.

There is also a distinct grille with unique elements and LED headlights set on the bumper. It also gets a large air dam with Harrier and Safari-like jeweled elements. There is also a silver skid plate which adds to the premium appearance.

Next up is the Citroen Basalt’s front end, and we can note that it also looks very bold. However, it looks slightly more butch than the Curvv. Like all the other Citroen models, the Basalt also features the same signature grille which integrates the Citroen logo in the middle.

The Basalt also boasts a split headlamp design with LED DRLs up top and projector headlights below. It does not come with connected LED DRLs, but it does get a massive silver skid plate below.

Side Profile

Moving on to the side profile, the Curvv’s main highlight is the 17-inch petal-shaped diamond-cut alloy wheels. These are some of the most unique-looking alloy wheels that we have seen on an affordable car. Also, its sloping roofline and its flush-type door handles add to the premium nature of the Curvv.

As for the side profile of the Basalt, it also boasts a similar sloping roofline. However, it does not look as premium as the Curvv. This is mainly due to Citroen still going with old and outdated flap-style door handles. The Basalt also gets 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. However, they are not as unique as the Curvv’s.

Rear End

The rear end of the Tata Curvv is hands down a lot more luxurious and premium-looking than the Citroen Basalt. It boasts a set of very sleek LED taillights which get a connected strip in the middle. It also features a massive gloss black element in the lower rear bumper.

Just underneath that, there is also a sizable silver skid plate. Additionally, the top of the roof gets a shark fin antenna and a double bubble rear spoiler finished in gloss black. Many believe that the rear of the Curvv looks very similar to that of a Lamborghini Urus.

As for the Citroen Basalt’s rear end, it also looks decent, but it does not exude as much premiumness as the Curvv. It gets wraparound LED taillights, a chunky matte black bumper with a sizeable silver skid plate. Overall, there is a lack of premium details that the Curvv offers.

As for the interior side of things, the Tata Curvv EV once again takes the cake. Now at the moment, the official interior pictures have not been revealed. However, most likely it will look very similar to that of the Tata Nexon EV. This means that it will boast a 12.3-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system.

It will also get trapezoidal AC vents, touch-based HVAC controls, digital instrument gauge cluster, wireless charger, start-stop button. The Curvv will also get the same four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo along with ambient lighting and leatherette upholstery. The Curvv will also get premium features like ventilated and worked front seats.

The Citroen Basalt, on the other hand, will carry forward the same interior layout as the C3 Aircross, which is not that impressive. It will get a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, a digital instrument gauge cluster, automatic climate control, wireless charger, and other modern amenities. However, it will most likely miss out on a ton of premium features.

Powertrains

Tata Curvv will be first launched in its EV guise as the Curvv EV. It has been reported that it could get two battery pack options. The first option could be a bigger 55 kWh battery pack which promises a driving range of up to 600 kilometers in a single charge.

Meanwhile, the second battery pack is likely to be the 40.2 kWh unit borrowed from the Nexon EV’s long-range version. The smaller battery pack should give the Curvv a range of about 400 km.

Coming to the ICE model, Tata Curvv ICE variant will be offered with two powertrain options. The first will be Tata’s new 1.2-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol engine. This motor will produce 125 PS of power and 225 Nm of torque.

It will come paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). On the other hand, the diesel option includes a 1.5-litre engine. This engine will deliver 115 PS and 260 Nm, with a 6-speed manual transmission.

Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual gearbox. Additionally, there could be an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic, both of which will drive the front wheels.

As for the pricing of the Citroen Basalt, it is believed that the company could launch it with a price tag of Rs 11-12 lakh. Due to the lack of premium features, the price can help Citroen in undercutting Tata Curvv’s price and help it in grabbing a bigger market share. However, which of these two SUVs wins in the newly created Coupe SUV segment is yet to be seen.
