We recently had a chance to visit Tata’s manufacturing facility in Pune, where we got a glimpse of what Tata will offer in their upcoming SUV, the Harrier EV. The production version of the Harrier EV was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo a few months ago. However, this time, we saw the SUV in action, which spoke volumes about its capabilities. Tata is expected to launch the electric SUV in the market soon. It is definitely one of the most anticipated models from Tata Motors, and here are five reasons why we believe you should wait for the Harrier EV.

Power

Although Tata showcased the electric SUV at the plant, they have not revealed any details about its specifications. However, multiple reports available online give us an idea of what to expect in terms of performance. According to these reports, the Tata Harrier EV will be the most powerful made-in-India electric SUV when launched.

It is expected to be more powerful than the Mahindra BE.6 and XUV.e9. As per reports, the Tata Harrier EV will generate around 350 PS and 500 Nm of peak torque.

AWD Capability

The upcoming Harrier EV is not just the most powerful but also the first Tata SUV to offer all-wheel drive (AWD). It will be Tata’s first electric SUV to feature this capability. The Harrier EV will come with dual motors, making it the most affordable AWD electric SUV in India. One motor will be placed at the front and the other at the rear, ensuring power is distributed to all four wheels.

Competitive Pricing

Pricing will be one of the key reasons why many people will wait for the Harrier EV. Tata is known for pricing its products aggressively, and we have seen several examples of this in the past. The Harrier EV is expected to rival the Mahindra BE.6, and Tata is likely to price it under ₹30 lakh.

For an SUV that comes with AWD and a powerful motor, this is an exciting price bracket that makes it an attractive option.

Impressive Driving Range

While there is no official confirmation regarding the battery pack specifications, reports suggest that Tata will offer the Harrier EV with two battery pack options. The lower variants are expected to get a 60 kWh battery pack. The higher variants could come with a 75 kWh battery pack.

The larger 75 kWh variant is expected to deliver a real-world range of around 400 km. Tata might also offer AWD only with the 75 kWh variant, while a 2WD configuration could be available for other models. This strategy would allow Tata to price the SUV more aggressively.

Big on Technology

Like most modern cars, the Harrier EV will be packed with several premium features. Some highlights include large touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster, Automatic climate control, Ventilated seats, Leatherette upholstery, Panoramic sunroof, Vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability (which is missing in the Mahindra BE.6 and XUV.e9), Independent multi-link rear suspension, Level 2+ ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), Summon mode and so on. These features will enhance the overall driving experience, making the Harrier EV one of the most exciting upcoming products in Tata’s lineup.
