Tata Harrier.EV: How To Use Auto Park Assist, Reverse Park Assist And Summon Mode Correctly [Video]

The Tata Harrier.ev is currently one of the most technologically advanced electric SUVs or vehicles in general in the Indian automotive market. This SUV comes jam-packed with creature and safety features. Now, a lot of people who have bought this SUV and a lot who are planning to buy this SUV should learn how a few of its main features such as Auto Park Assist, Reverse Park Assist, Summon Mode, and others work. So without any delay, here's the guide to use them.
The first feature which we will talk about is the Auto Park Assist. As the name suggests, the vehicle parks itself in and out of a tight parking space. Now, to activate this feature, the owner has to press the APA button on the centre console or access it through the infotainment screen. It has to be noted it only becomes available after the safety conditions are met.
These conditions include all doors, bonnet, and tailgate being closed, seatbelts needing to be fastened, ORVMs unfolded, car in Drive mode, speed under 15 kmph, and there should be no obstacles around. Following this, the Auto Park process begins. The ultrasonic sensors of the SUV detect parking spots on either side, and the driver is then prompted to confirm the spot.
Following this, the options for Auto Park or Remote Park pop up. After this, the driver has to confirm and then put hands off the steering and feet off the pedal. The car then does the rest of the parking by itself. Harrier.ev can also exit a parking spot on its own if it was parked using Auto Park.
Like the Auto Park Assist feature, the Remote Park Assist also works in the same manner. The APA button has to be first pressed and then the vehicle completes its security check. It has to be noted that if the vehicle notices any obstacles, the process of Remote Park Assist pauses and gets cancelled after 30 seconds if the obstacle is not cleared.
To start the process, the driver has to first find a parking spot and confirm it on the infotainment screen. The driver then has to select Auto Park Mode and shift the vehicle into Park Mode. After this, all doors, tailgate, and bonnet have to be locked, and the parking button on the key fob has to be long-pressed until parking completes. This system works for both perpendicular and parallel parking spots as well.
Another one of the most unique features of the Harrier.ev is the Summon Mode. To use this feature, the user must be within 6 meters of the Harrier.ev, after which the person has to long-press the lock button on the car to start the Summon Mode. The vehicle can move up to 12 meters, and if the button is released, the vehicle stops. This feature becomes very useful when the vehicle is in a tight spot.
Tata Motors is also offering the Harrier.ev with the Reverse Assist feature. This feature helps in reversing the vehicle by retracing the last 50 meters of forward movement. It has been designed to back out of tight spaces effortlessly. To use this feature, the vehicle has to come to a complete stop and the driver has to activate it using the central touchscreen infotainment system.
This system only works after the car is driven under 30 kmph and the steering has not been turned sharply. Once this feature is activated, the steering wheel can be released and the car retraces its path. The system pauses anytime the brake pedal is pressed. Also, it can be aborted manually to regain full control.
