Most Affordable Tata Harrier.EV Adventure 65: Base Variant Detailed On Video

The Harrier.EV, launched in June this year, is an important product for Tata Motors. The carmaker has designed and packaged it well. The electric SUV disrupted the segment by offering Quad Wheel Drive (QWD)- essentially an all-wheel-drive system based on two electric motors. There are three variants on offer, under three broad trims- Adventure, Fearless+, and Empowered. Two battery packs are available- 65 kWh and 75 kWh. The prices start at Rs 21.49 lakh, ex-showroom. A video shared on the YouTube channel Fuel Injected shows the base variant (Adventure 65) in detail.
It opens with the host giving us an introduction to the variant and explaining why it is relevant to EV buyers. He then states the basic powertrain details. The Adventure 65, he says, comes just with the smaller battery pack. It has a single-motor setup with an output of 238 hp and 315 Nm of torque. It even has a certified range of 538 km per charge. He adds that it is safe to expect 400-420 km of real-world range.
The host then explains the design. The Harrier EV’s base variant looks good and even comes with a dual-tone paint scheme. Key highlights include LED bi-projector headlamps with full-width lightbars and DRLs, closed-off grille, connected LED tail lamps, rear wiper/washer, ORVMs with integrated turn indicators and electric adjustment, shark fin antenna, and more.
The SUV rides on dual-tone aero-optimized 18 inch wheels shod with 245/60/R18 rubber. The top-spec comes with 19 inch wheels. The base variant also offers the option of an AC fast charger, which can reduce charging time (10-80%) to 25 minutes.
The vehicle also gets a small frunk, but lacks hydraulic struts for the bonnet. The host mentions this and like many of us, hopes Tata to include these, at least on future updates. Also missing on the base variant are things like front fog lamps and a rear defogger.
The YouTuber also shows the EV’s boot space. It comes with a space saver spare wheel, but offers ample storage space. In the video, the wall-mount charger and other components are seen kept in the boot.
Later in the video, we get to see the interior design, materials used, and the space offered. The cabin comes finished in a dual-tone colour scheme comprising Black and a shade of Tan. The seats feature Black leatherette upholstery. This video also gives useful insights into the comfort and practicality offered by the rear row.
The host says that he finds the rear seat experience of the base variant slightly more comfortable than that offered by the higher variants. This, he says, could be due to the smaller battery pack. Due to its relatively compact dimensions, the rear occupants do not have to be seated in a slightly ‘knees-up’ position.
The host then shows us the dashboard design and other features on offer. The Adventure 65 variant comes with two 10.25 inch screens, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, manually dimming IRVM, 45W USB Type-C ports, connected car tech, cruise control, and automatic climate control.
The audio system offered on this variant consists of four speakers and two tweeters. The host says that this setup delivers good performance and sound quality, even though it wouldn’t match the quality that the JBL setup on higher variants deliver. The range-topping variant comes with a more advanced 10-speaker Harman JBL Black audio with Dolby Atmos.
On the safety front, the base variant features six airbags, TPMS, Hill Descent Control, HHC, VDC, Electronic parking brake with auto-hold, brake disc wiping, Hydraulic brake assist, Brake sway assist, and Traction Control. There’s also support for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging.
Making the video more useful, the host talks about the camera quality. The base variant doens’t have 360 camera and comes with a single rearview camera. It, he says, has good display quality and comes with adaptive guidelines. In addition to these, the vehicle also offers selectable terrain modes.
He concludes by saying that at its price point, the Harrier.EV is definitely worth considering. The coimfortanle ‘Ultra-Glide’ rear suspension being offered on the base-spec further packs value into it.
