Tata Motors is preparing to launch its first full-sized electric SUV, the Harrier.EV in the Indian market on June 3, 2025. The vehicle was previously showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. It is dubbed to be the manufacturer's most powerful and capable EV to date and will have a range close to 500 km per charge. With days left for the market debut, the Harrier.EV has now been spied without camouflage, on public roads.

In a set of images shared on X (previously Twitter), we see the all-electric Harrier speeding on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. It shows the vehicle to have its charging port near the rear-right wheel. Even the SUV showcased at the Auto Expo had the same.

It should be noted that many modern-day Tata EVs like the Punch and Curvv have their charging ports at the front. The diesel-powered Harrier has its fuel filler near the rear-right wheel. The EV has placed its charging port at the same spot, so that the body panels can be left unchanged, and better financial viability can be attained.

We also get to see the production form's alloy wheel design in the pictures. These look good as well.

More About The Harrier.EV

Tata Motors has based the all-electric Harrier on its Gen 2 Acti.EV platform. The rear suspension here, would be a multi-link unit. The SUV will feature a 75 kWh battery pack, and will thus belong to the league of long-range EVs. Modern touches like Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging will be available on the production guise.

Even the cabin will be kept modern and tech-packed. It will have a Grey and White colour scheme and come with features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, JBL audio, dual-zone climate control, OTA support, connected car technology, and terrain modes. Of course, the list is longer...

The exterior styling remains similar to the one of the diesel counterpart. The upright and aggressive stance has been kept intact. The grille is now blacked out, LED DRLs get welcome and goodbye functions, and the wheels are now aero-optimized. Several '.EV' badges can be seen at various places.

The Harrier.EV will also mark the return of AWD (All Wheel Drive) to the Tata lineup. The dual-motor version will send power to all four wheels and be more fun to drive. This is in a way, the carmaker future-proofing its SUV.

It will also stun you with its powertrain output. The electric motor will be capable of churning out 369 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. This is more than what the rivals offer. The 0-100 kph time is claimed to be under 6 seconds, marking a notable advantage over rivals.

Why Is The Harrier.EV A Crucial Product For Tata Motors?

Well, this is the first time that the homegrown carmaker forays into the higher, more aspirational EV segment. It has obviously been shaping the mass-market electric vehicle space with a slew of products, and hopes to repeat the success in the premium segment as well. The Harrier could give it a flying start at this, if packaged well.

We don't expect it to be a volume-seller, but a well-placed Harrier.EV could help Tata Motors put up a strong fight against the likes of MG and Mahindra in the premium EV segment. This could, in turn, help in ramping up its overall EV market share.

Tata's EV Ambitions

The Harrier.EV is part of the carmaker's larger EV game plan, in which it has invested over $2 billion. According to this vision, Tata's EV portfolio will soon be 10 members strong and capture atleast 30 percent of the market by 2030.

We expect the Harrier.EV to have its ex-showroom price in the range of Rs 25-30 lakh. In the Indian market, it will compete with the likes of Mahindra BE6 and XUV 9e. It will be the product that bridges the carmaker's current lineup with the more advanced and more exciting future portfolio.
