Tata Harrier.EV Spied Testing Without Camouflage: Launch Soon [Video]

Tata Motors is preparing to launch its all-new electric SUV, the Harrier.ev, in India. This highly anticipated product will take on Mahindra’s recently unveiled BE 6 and XEV 9E electric SUVs. Since its official debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo, test mule sightings of the electric Harrier have become increasingly frequent. Recently, the final production version of the vehicle was spotted without camouflage, hinting at an imminent market debut. An exclusive reel shared by MotorWorldIndia shows the vehicle in detail.
The vehicle that was being tested had the same design cues as the one that was shown at the Expo. The show car was finished in a shade of Deep Blue, while the vehicle being tested had White colour. The roof and pillars are finished in Black.
As was revealed previously, the production-spec Harrier.EV's design highlights include a closed-off grille, new front bumper, LED DRLs, and vertically set LED headlamps. The EV-grille has faint horizontal slats on it. The lower grille and the front bumper get vertical slats. Many of the EV's design elements are borrowed from the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) version.
The side profile remains mostly unchanged from that of the diesel Harrier. ORVMs, side silhouette, doors, body claddings, wheel arch claddings, roof rails and other elements are all similar.
Though not clear in the video, the plastic claddings on the exterior could be painted in Gloss Black upon launch. We have previously seen similar treatment on the Curvv as well. The new set of images also show cameras on the ORVMs and request sensors on door handles.
The vehicle will likely come with 19-inch alloy wheels with an EV-spec design and 245-section tyres. The rear remains more or less unchanged from the ICE counterpart, except for a few bits like a shark fin antenna, silver faux skid plate in rear bumper and refreshed LED tail lights. You also get to find a faux skid plate at the front as well.
On the test car, however, there is no '.EV' badge. It might have been removed for testing.
The show car was locked and no detail of the interior could be deciphered first hand. Even the test mule had its cabin under camouflage. The expected feature list would include ventilated front and rear seats, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function for driver, 12.3-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, panoramic sunroof, premium upholstery, 10-inch instrument cluster, Level-2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, 7 airbags, blindspot assist cameras and more.
Deep details of the Harrier.EV's powertrain aren't known yet. We expect it to be powered by a 75-80 kWh battery pack. This is hoped to deliver a range of 500 km per charge. The SUV will be undepinned by Tata's new Acti.EV platform. The same architecture will be used in the Sierra.EV and Safari.EV as well.
The higher variants are expected to get AWD (All Wheel Drive) while the lower ones would get a 2 Wheel Drive layout. The electric motor is expected to be able to produce 268 PS and 380 Nm. The Harrier.EV will get the manufacturer's new EV specific Terrain Response system as well.
The Harrier.EV, when launched, will compete with the likes of the Mahindra BE 6, XEV 9E, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Maruti Suzuki eVitara. The price could fall in the 28-35 Lakh range...
