Tata Motors Fixes Bugs On Harrier.EV Through An OTA Update: All You Need To Know

Tata Motors has managed to create a buzz in the Indian electric vehicle market with its recently launched Harrier.ev electric SUV. Like most new cars, the flagship electric SUV has also been reported to have a few software and other issues. Thankfully, Tata Motors has been very quick to take a lot of feedback and address issues. Now, to help all the owners of the Harrier.ev, the company has rolled out a new OTA update to fix several frustrating bugs and safety issues.
With the newly rolled out OTA update, Tata Motors has now fixed the summon feature of this SUV and has also improved the Auto Park Assist feature. From now on, if during the summon mode or APA the Harrier.ev’s door is opened, the car will now engage the electronic parking brake and enter park mode. In the previous version, there has been documented incident of EPB not engaging when the door was opened when the Summon mode was in progress.
In addition to this, the company has fixed the issues related to the parking brake, ABS, and traction control system. Many owners complained that they had been facing unwanted braking errors, malfunctioning ABS, and unstable traction control. However, with the new update in the IVBAC (Integrated Vehicle Brake and Assistance Control), it has allowed for a better, smoother, and safer braking experience.
Several owners also stated that the key fob had a lot of NFC pairing issues. They highlighted that the system would decouple them randomly. However, now with the update of the SASS (Secured Access System), this issue has been resolved. The issue of the 360-degree camera and blind spot monitor system freezing and causing inconvenience has also been solved.
Other notable highlights of the newly rolled out OTA update include better communication between the systems in the vehicle. All of the Body Control Modules of the Harrier.ev have been updated. Lastly, the onboard infotainment system has been updated to version 17.5+. It will now offer a more stable interface and improved connectivity.
One owner even lost his life in what appeared to be an issue concerning the electric parking brake (EPB) not engaging when the door was opened.
A majority of the Harrier.ev owners have been complaining on social media about issues with braking and electrical components failing on their new cars. Many owners even complained of braking failures, faults in the hill hold system, traction control system, and stability warnings.
They highlighted that these software and hardware-related glitches have been compromising the reliability of this SUV. Most likely, in the coming months, the company will roll out more updates as owners report new issues.
The Tata Harrier.ev and many other premium and standard cars, including EVs, are now termed as Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs). These vehicles are equipped with high-end sensors, control modules, and cutting-edge software to make the user experience better. Now, like all software-enabled equipment, these vehicles also tend to have issues.
However, they can also be quickly fixed with Over-The-Air software updates. These quick updates fix the software issues, improving the experience of the owner. Presently, most manufacturers that are selling modern SDVs are working diligently to make sure that their vehicles remain bug-free.
