Tata Motors is getting ready to launch its all-new electric SUV, the Harrier.ev, in India. This new model will be taking on Mahindra’s recently launched BE 6 and XEV 9E electric SUVs in the country. Over the last few weeks, after the official debut of the Harrier.ev at the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo, sightings of this EV SUV on public roads have become more frequent, and recently, a few new spy shots have been shared online.

The spy shots of the fully undisguised Tata Harrier.ev have come courtesy of TeamBHP. In the images, we can note that a test mule of the Harrier.ev was being tested on public roads without any camouflage. As for the confirmation of this being an EV version of the Harrier, it can be noted that the Harrier badging has been positioned slightly to the left. This means that the “.EV” badge has been removed for testing.

Additionally, a few thick orange cables, which are seen on electric cars, were also noted on the lower left side of this test mule. Moreover, it has been reported that this particular test mule was emitting the distinct EV sound rather than the thumping sound of the Kryotec diesel engine that is offered in the standard ICE Harrier. Apart from these, the rest of the vehicle looks almost identical to the standard Harrier from the rear.

Tata Harrier.ev: Details

The recent spotting of the Harrier.ev test mule suggests that the company could be launching this new electric SUV by the end of March or by April of this year. Also, it is believed that the company is aiming to launch this model with a price tag of under ₹30 lakh. As mentioned, once launched, it will be competing with the Mahindra BE 6, XEV 9E, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Maruti Suzuki eVitara.

Coming to the main highlights of the Tata Harrier.ev, this electric SUV will boast the largest battery pack of any Tata Motors electric car. It is expected to get a massive 75-80 kWh battery pack, which will provide it with a maximum real-world driving range of 500+ km on a single full charge. This means that its claimed range will be around 650-700 km.

What will also make the Tata Harrier.ev special is the offering of a dual electric motor setup. It will become the most affordable EV SUV in India to come equipped with two electric motors. Also, this setup will help the Harrier.ev offer all-wheel-drive capabilities. It has to be noted that Tata Motors will most likely also offer a single electric motor variant as well, which will be rear-wheel drive.

The Harrier.ev will be based on the brand’s Acti.ev architecture. This same platform will also be used for the Safari.ev and the highly anticipated Sierra.ev. Both of these SUVs will also get the same electric powertrain and battery pack option and will be launched before the end of this year. The Safari.ev will compete with the Mahindra XUV.e8, while the Sierra.ev will take on the Hyundai Creta Electric and the Maruti Suzuki eVitara.
