Tata Motors is set to expand its Indian lineup further. The company is expected to commence as many as 30 launches by 2030. These will include both new nameplates and updates to existing ones. The proposed line of launches will include both electric vehicles and Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles. Let's now take a closer look at five major launches from the homegrown carmaker, which are expected to take place later this year.

Tata Harrier Petrol

The Harrier continues to be a popular choice among SUV buyers. It used to come with just a diesel engine till recently. In the latest development, Tata Motors has added an all-electric version to the Harrier lineup- the Harrier.EV. The company has packaged this EV well and has given it competitive pricing.

Tata Motors is known to be working on a new petrol engine which will be used in multiple big SUVs in its portfolio, including the Harrier. This 1.5L TGDi (Turbocharged Gasoline Direct Injection) petrol engine will be capable of producing 170 PS and 280 Nm of torque. For reference, the diesel-powered Harrier has an output of 170 PS and 350 Nm. The new TGDi unit will thus have lower torque figures.

Tata Motors had showcased the 1.5 TGDi petrol engine at the 2023 Auto Expo. It had an Aluminium construction and was claimed to be E20 capable. For reasons unknown, it got delayed to the market. In the most recent turn of events, we have also learnt that the carmaker is also developing a naturally aspirated (NA) version of this engine. The Harrier will likely come with both naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines.

Now, we have learnt that Tata will also develop a naturally aspirated version of this engine for use in models including the Sierra. Doing so will help the manufacturer to price it competitively and appeal to buyers who prefer petrol vehicles over diesel. The petrol engine will also be used on the Harrier and Safari as well.

Safari Petrol

Following the launch of the petrol-powered Harrier, the new 1.5L engine could make its way to the Safari as well. The seven-seater is now available only with a 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine that produces 170 PS and 350 Nm. The new petrol engine, if introduced on the Safari, can help in bringing its price down, and making it accessible to a wider set if buyers.

Tata Motors is known to be working on the facelifted Punch, and will likely give it a market launch later this year. The Punch has been a very successful model for Tata.

Going by the spy shots that are circulating online, the facelifted Punch will have a lot of exterior and interior design changes. The new car's design will likely be more in line with the EV that's on sale currently. Inside, the new Punch will have a free-standing 10.25-inch touchscreen, Tata's new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, a fully digital driver's display, and more. Though not visible in the spy shots, it could have a touch-based HVAC control panel as well. We will get to know more details of the new Punch closer to the launch.

It can currently be had with petrol, diesel and all-electric powertrains, with the last getting multiple battery pack options. The carmaker is determined to expand the Curvv lineup further, and will likely launch a CNG version of it.

It will feature Tata's dual-cylinder technology and will use the 1.2L Revotron engine as the base. More details of the CNG Curvv are yet to surface. Rumours suggest that the launch could happen in October 2025.
