Tata Motors has announced a dual benefit strategy that combines mandatory GST reductions with additional price cuts. Customers can save up to Rs 2.03 lakh across the passenger vehicle range, making this one of the broadest discount campaigns in the market. The offers go live from today - September 22, the date when GST 2.0 comes into effect.

How Much Each Model Gets

The Nexon receives up to Rs 1.55 lakh entirely from GST cuts, while the Safari and Harrier each add Rs 98,000 in further price benefits over their respective GST savings of Rs 1.45 lakh and Rs 1.40 lakh.

Entry-level cars also see significant reductions. The Tiago gets up to Rs 75,000 in GST relief along with Rs 35,000 in other discounts, totalling Rs 1.10 lakh. The Tigor follows with Rs 80,000 from GST and up to Rs 40,000 more in benefits.

Among compact SUVs, the Punch offers Rs 85,000 in GST reductions plus up to Rs 70,000 in additional price cuts. The newly launched Curvv shows two different discount structures: model year 2024 versions come with Rs 30,000 in cash benefits plus Rs 8,000 in corporate offers, while 2025 versions receive Rs 20,000 in cash alongside the same corporate support.

Tata Motors is also offering attractive discounts on its electric cars, which did not get any benefit in terms of a GST rate cut.

GST Reform In Numbers

The GST Council’s decision to lower rates from 28% to 18% reduces ex-showroom prices by 8.33%. On higher-value cars like the Safari, which is priced at Rs 21.71 lakh, that translates to savings of Rs 1.45 lakh. The Harrier sees a Rs 1.40 lakh reduction, while the Nexon secures the maximum GST cut of Rs 1.55 lakh across its variants.

The new slab applies to cars under 4 metres with petrol engines up to 1,200 cc and diesels up to 1,500 cc, which covers most of Tata’s volume models. GST on auto parts has also been brought down to 18%, which could lower maintenance costs for owners in the long run.

Festive Season Sales Boost

These discounts arrive during the peak buying season when car sales typically rise in both urban and rural markets. Tata’s decision to pass on the full GST benefit, while adding its own reductions, gives it a clear price advantage over rivals who may only transfer part of the tax cut.

The pricing strategy strengthens models like the Nexon and Punch, which already attract buyers with their features and safety ratings. Industry assessments suggest this could shift demand away from competitors and help Tata consolidate market share.

Beyond Cars: Commercial Vehicle Offers

Tata Motors has extended benefits to small commercial vehicles as well. The Ace Pro now starts at Rs 3.67 lakh after GST cuts. Buyers booking pickups and small CVs by September 22 also receive assured gifts like 32-inch LED TVs, along with consumer benefits up to Rs 65,000. This is aimed at small business owners and logistics operators, a core customer base for Tata.
