The Harrier.EV was launched in India in June this year. The SUV is available in three broad personas- Adventure, Fearless and Empowered. The starting ex-showroom price is Rs 21.49 lakh, while the range-topping variant comes with an ex-showroom price of Rs 29.5 Lakh.

The vehicle soon started reaching dealer stockyards. Test drives began at most dealerships by mid-July. Now, the deliveries have begun as well. It looks like the top-spec QWD (Quad Motor All-Wheel Drive) variants are reaching their owners first.

On design grounds, the Harrier.EV stands close to the diesel counterpart. The upright stance and butch styling remain the same on both vehicles. Most of the bodywork, lines and panels are identical. The EV, however, gets cues like a blanked-out front grille, new front and rear bumpers, new aero-efficient alloy wheels.

The all-electric Harrier comes in four interesting shades- Nainital Nocturne, Pristine White, Pure Grey and Empowered Oxide. There is also a Stealth edition on sale. This was previously showcased at the Auto Expo.

The cabin gets a Grey-White dual-tone colour scheme. It looks pleasant and airy. The overall layout mirrors that of the diesel SUV. The feature list, however, has had a major improvement.

Tata Motors has even given it a 'Summon Mode'. The electric SUV also offers Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging.

Tata Motors has based the Harrier.EV on the second-generation Acti.EV+ platform. It gets a multi-link suspension setup at the rear. Tata calls this the 'Ultra Glide'. Two battery packs are offered- 65 kWh and 75 kWh, the larger of which has a claimed range of 500 km per charge. These battery packs also offer high charging speeds as well. 250km of range can be replenished in just 15 minutes.

The Harrier.EV has both single-motor and dual-motor variants on sale. The lower variants come with a rear-axle-mounted single-motor setup that produces 238 PS and 315 Nm of torque. The QWD-equipped dual-motor variant has 369 bhp and 504 Nm of torque on offer. The manufacturer says that the QWD-equipped Harrier.EV can do the 0-100 kph sprint in just 6.3 seconds. This is impressive considering the vehicle weight of 2.2 tonnes.

The Harrier.EV is claimed to have impressive off-roading abilities. The manufacturer has always highlighted these in various teasers, ad films and product presentations. The approach, departure and breakover angles of the Harrier.EV are 25.3, 26.4 , and 16.6 degrees respectively. Plus, the ground clearance stands at 205 mm. Additionally, the vehicle also gets a dedicated 'Off-road' mode which offers not one, but multiple sub-modes.

Furthermore, the Harrier.EV also gets a 'Transparent Mode' which lets the driver see the terrain underneath. This is Tata's version of Land Rover's 'ClearSight GroundView'. It uses an undercarriage-mounted camera unit and Augmented Reality (AR) to project the wheels. This will be of great use on trails.
