3 Tata SUVs To Soon Get Turbo Petrol Power: Details

The future of diesel vehicles in India is very uncertain. So, in its attempt to have an alternative way to lure in more buyers, Tata Motors is working on the development of three new petrol SUVs for the Indian automotive market. These new petrol-engine-powered Tata SUVs will be launched in 2025, and if you are eager to know which of these SUVs are coming this year, then you have come to the right place.
The first petrol SUV that will be making its debut this year will be the Tata Harrier petrol. This highly anticipated SUV has been spotted testing across the country on numerous occasions. It is expected that it will make its debut around June of this year. As for the main highlight, it will come powered by Tata’s newly developed 1.5-litre TGDi engine.
This motor will be capable of producing 170 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. As for the transmission options, it will be offered with both a 6-speed manual gearbox and an automatic transmission as well. In terms of design, the Harrier facelift is expected to look identical to the diesel-engined model.
This means that it will continue to get the same connected LED DRLs, LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, and others. It will also get the same modern interior with tons of features, including a 12.3-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 360-degree camera, 10 JBL speakers, and more.
Like its younger five-seater sibling, the larger seven-seater SUV Safari will also be getting the same 1.5-litre TGDi petrol engine. It should be noted that even though it is slightly bigger in size, it will still get the same power output of 170 PS and 280 Nm of torque.
As for the launch date, it is expected to make its debut alongside the Harrier petrol, or it could be launched a month later in July of this year. In terms of design, the Safari is also expected to retain the same exterior and interior design as its diesel sibling.
Once launched in India, it will compete with the likes of the Mahindra XUV700 petrol, Mahindra Scorpio-N petrol, and the Hyundai Alcazar. It is believed that Maruti Suzuki could be launching the seven-seater version of the Grand Vitara as well, and along with it, Toyota’s Urban Cruiser Hyryder seven-seater could also come to market.
In addition to the already popular Harrier and Safari SUVs, Tata Motors is expected to launch the newest generation of the Sierra with a petrol powerplant in India. The new Sierra will also get the same 1.5-litre TGDi petrol engine. The company recently showcased the final production version of the Sierra at the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo.
Tata Motors will be launching the Sierra in the mid-size SUV segment under the Harrier. This is being done to rival the current champions of this segment, which are the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and others. It is expected to make its debut in the second half of 2025.
In addition to the petrol-engined option, Tata Motors will also be launching the Sierra with the same 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine, which makes 170 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. Lastly, the Sierra will also get an EV iteration, which will compete with the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti Suzuki eVitara, and the MG Astor in India. It will be based on the new Tata Acti.ev architecture and offer a real-world range of 500+ km on a single full charge.
