Tata Nexon DCA Twin Clutch Diesel Automatic Arrives On Official Website, Launch Soon

Tata Motors has become the first-ever carmaker in India to offer its popular sub-compact SUV, the Nexon, with a diesel engine paired with a DCA (Dual Clutch Automatic) transmission. Recently, the Nexon Diesel with the DCA transmission was listed on the company’s official website. This is the first time an automaker has offered a diesel engine with a Dual Clutch automatic gearbox. Tata Motors will also offer the same with the upcoming Curvv Coupe SUV.
The Tata Nexon DCA Diesel, as stated, will become the first sub-compact SUV in India to feature a twin-clutch automatic transmission paired with a diesel engine. What’s even more interesting is that Tata Motors is offering a wet clutch DCA system. For those who may not be aware, this system is known for its superior reliability and reduced risk of overheating compared to traditional dry clutch systems.
The wet clutch DCA system in the Nexon Diesel variant will offer smoother gear shifts and will become an ideal choice for people who have city traffic commutes. The wet clutch transmission’s design minimizes friction and heat generation; hence, it becomes a lot more reliable.
The Tata Nexon DCA Diesel variant is currently available for booking on Tata Motors’ official website. This engine-transmission combination is being exclusively offered in the top-spec ‘Fearless + S’ variant. This variant comes packed with features, including all-LED split headlights, complete with fog lamps and sequential indicators.
It also gets welcome and goodbye functions and 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. On the inside, the Nexon comes equipped with a 10.25-inch infotainment system and a matching 10.25-inch instrument cluster. This variant also gets leatherette seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an 8-speaker sound system with a subwoofer.
Additional features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, front ventilated seats, and cruise control. The vehicle also comes equipped with six airbags, a 360-degree camera with front parking sensors, a blind view monitor, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
The Tata Nexon DCA Diesel is expected to be priced slightly higher than the existing diesel AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) variants. The current top-spec diesel automatic variant is priced at Rs. 15.6 lakh. Industry experts anticipate that the new DCA variant will command a premium of approximately Rs. 50,000.
Interestingly, the Curvv will also feature the same 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel engine paired with the DCA transmission. This 1.5-litre diesel motor generates a maximum power of 113 bhp and 260 Nm of torque. The Curvv will also get a 1.2-litre petrol engine that will make 118 bhp and 170 Nm.
It will also come with a new Hyperion 1.2-litre direct-injection turbo petrol engine that will make 125 bhp and 225 Nm. All three engines will come standard with a six-speed manual transmission. Additionally, all three engines will also get the same optional 7-speed Dual Clutch automatic transmission. Tata Motors will be officially launching the Curvv on September 2nd and deliveries will commence soon after the official price reveal.
