Tata’s first-ever electric SUV, the Nexon EV, has been performing well in the Indian market for various reasons, including its price. If you were planning to buy a Nexon EV, we feel this is the right time to do so. Tata is now offering discounts of up to Rs 2.05 lakh on the electric SUV. Tata states that this is a continuation of their special discount scheme introduced last month as part of their 20 lakh SUV sales milestone celebration. However, we like to believe this is the Tata Curvv EV effect.

As mentioned above, the Tata Nexon EV gets a maximum discount of up to Rs 2.05 lakh. This includes a green bonus of Rs 1.80 lakh on the top-spec Empowered+ LR variants. The rest of the variants get a green bonus ranging between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.20 lakh. However, the Creative+ MR variant only gets a bonus of Rs 20,000.

The MY2023 units are being sold with an additional green bonus of Rs 25,000 on all variants. So, if you are buying a 2023 model of the Nexon EV, you can get it at a maximum discount of Rs 2.05 lakh. This is quite interesting, as the Nexon EV is not a bad SUV by any means. With such discounts, it can be a better option for many customers than the newly launched Tata Curvv EV. Why do we feel that? Let us explain.

Tried and Tested

The Tata Nexon EV has been in the market since 2019, and over the years, Tata has managed to resolve most of the issues they faced with the product. While a few issues still exist, they now have solutions for most of them and have extensively tested this vehicle both at their facility and on the road.

Adequate Range

Tata offers the Nexon EV in both Medium Range and Long Range versions. The Medium Range version has a certified driving range of 325 km, while the Long Range variant has a certified range of 465 km. These are the numbers on paper, but in real-world conditions, the car would deliver a range of anywhere between 250 to 350 km. This is actually sufficient for anyone who wants an EV for city commuting or occasional highway drives.

Better Headroom

While the Tata Nexon EV is a smaller SUV than the recently launched Curvv EV, we feel the Nexon EV offers better headroom as it does not have a coupe-like design element. Tata has cleverly scooped out a portion of the roof to accommodate taller people. However, if you are above 6 feet tall, you might find the Nexon EV a bit more comfortable in terms of headroom.

You Save a Lot

Thanks to the ongoing discount, the Tata Nexon EV is now much more affordable than before. With the facelift, the Nexon offers more features than ever before, giving the car a premium look both inside and out. The price for the Curvv EV starts at Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom), while for the Nexon EV, it starts at Rs 14.49 lakh before discounts.

Waiting Period

For the newly launched Curvv EV, we feel the Nexon EV has a shorter waiting period. You may have to wait only a few weeks for your new Nexon EV, but we are not sure what the case would be with the Curvv EV.
