Tata Nexon.EV And Punch.EV Bag 5 Stars In Bharat NCAP Crash Test
Tata does it again! This time with EVs. Tata is known for making cars with sturdy build quality. The manufacturer recently sent their electric cars, the Nexon EV and Punch EV, to the Bharat NCAP crash test. As usual, both these electric vehicles passed the crash test with flying colors. The Punch EV and Nexon EV scored a 5-star rating in the crash test.

Tata is currently one of the leading car manufacturers in India, known for making safe cars for users. Both EVs performed well in the test. The Tata Punch EV, the latest entrant in Tata’s electric vehicle lineup, scored 5-star ratings for both adult and child occupant safety. In the Adult Occupant Protection test, the EV scored 31.46 out of 32. In Child Occupant Protection, the electric vehicle scored 45 points out of 49. For the test, the Punch EV’s Empower+ S Long Range variant was used.
The SUV performed well in both frontal and side crash impacts. The frontal crash was carried out at a speed of 64 km/h. The structure of the SUV held its shape, and all the airbags deployed at the time of the crash. The vehicle offers adequate to good protection to both the driver and the front passenger in both frontal offset and side impact tests.
Next is the Nexon EV. This was Tata’s first-ever EV in the market, and it quickly gained popularity among buyers. The SUV recently got an update and now looks much more premium than before. The Nexon EV facelift was also sent to the Bharat NCAP test, and the car scored a 5-star rating too. The SUV scored 29.86 points out of 32 in the Adult Occupant Protection and 44.95 out of 49 points in the Child Occupant Protection section.
The frontal impact test at 64 km/h was done on the Nexon EV, and the vehicle performed well. The Nexon EV also provided adequate to good protection to both the driver and the front passenger in the frontal offset crash as well as the side impact test.
Tata Punch EV
Unlike other EVs in Tata’s portfolio, the Punch EV is different. It is based on an all-new “acti.ev” born-electric platform. It gets EV-specific changes like the redesigned grille, headlamps, and interiors compared to the ICE version. The Punch EV is offered with two battery pack options. There is a Standard Range variant that uses a 25 kWh battery with an MIDC-claimed 315 km range. The Long Range variant uses a 35 kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 421 km.
The Tata Punch EV generates 122 PS and 190 Nm of peak torque. The price for a brand new Punch EV starts at Rs 10.99 lakh ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 15.49 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
Tata Nexon EV
The exterior of the Nexon EV is now similar to the facelifted version. The ICE version of the Nexon has been modified to be converted into an EV here. The Nexon EV is also available in MR and LR variants. The MR version of the Nexon EV produces 129 PS and 215 Nm of torque, while the LR version generates 145 PS and the same 215 Nm. The MR version offers a claimed range of 325 kilometers on a single charge, while the LR version can go up to 465 kilometers on a single charge. The price for the Nexon EV starts at Rs 14.49 lakh ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 19.49 lakh ex-showroom.
