Tata Nexon iCNG Dark Edition Price Starts At Rs. 12.7 Lakh!

Tata Motors definitely has a thing for rolling out ‘special editions’ across their domestic lineup, which are essentially cosmetic packages or upgrades of the regular product. The Dark Edition could probably be the most popular among these. Almost all models from the Altroz Safari have, over the years had this edition on sale. The homegrown auto giant has now introduced the #Dark Edition on the Nexon iCNG as well. The price starts at Rs 12.70 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 14.70 lakh (ex-sh)
Tata Nexon is among the most sold vehicles in India. It is available in a range of powertrain choices- petrol, diesel, electric and CNG. In keeping with Tata’s naming traditions, the CNG version is called the Nexon iCNG. Like every other Dark Edition that we have seen to date, the iCNG Dark also gets major cosmetic beef-ups.
It gets an all-black (Carbon Black) exterior colourway and Black alloy wheels. Almost all metallic parts have been Blacked out. The cabin too is finished in Black. It gets Black upholstery and dark trims and finishes. These have increased the overall aesthetic appeal of the vehicle.
There are no changes in the feature list of the Dark variants. These remain the same as that on the corresponding standard variants. You get the likes of a 10.2-inch infotainment system with a digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, wireless charging, air purifier, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, JBL branded 8 speaker audio system and bi-LED headlamps.
The mechanicals too remain untouched. The Nexon iCNG Dark edition is powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged CNG engine that makes 100 hp and 170 Nm. This is the first turbocharged CNG engine to find a place on an Indian vehicle. The only transmission on offer is a 6-speed manual unit.
The Nexon iCNG also comes with twin-cylinder technology for its CNG tank. Here, the fuel (compressed natural gas) is stored in two smaller tanks connected together internally, instead of a larger single tank. This has enabled to generate more boot space. The SUV offers a total usable boot capacity of 392 litres. Previously, twin-cylinder storage was also seen in other Tata CNG models like the Punch iCNG.
And for fuel efficiency, the Nexon iCNG boasts a claimed figure of 24 km per kg of gas. This is quite good for a vehicle of this class and size.
The Dark Edition is available on the three higher variants of the Nexon iCNG– Creative + S, Creative + PS and Fearless + PS. The Creative + S and Creative + PS Dark variants have a price premium of Rs 40,000 over the equivalent standard trims. The price premium of the Fearless + PS variant is just Rs 20,000. Let’s see the detailed breakdown now…
The Nexon iCNG Creative+ S variant has an ex-showroom price of 12.3 lakh. For the Dark Edition, it is 12.7 lakh. Similarly, for the Creative + PS variant has a price of 13.3 lakh (ex-showroom) while the Creative+ PS Dark costs 13.7 lakh, ex-showroom. The regular Fearless + PS trim costs 14.3 lakh, while the Dark would push the same to 14.5 lakh, ex-showroom.
The Nexon iCNG is probably the CNG product with the most number of variants on offer. It is available in a total of 9 trims: Smart, Smart+, Smart+S, Pure, Pure+ S, Creative, Creative+S, Creative+ PS and Fearless+PS.
