Tata Motors is known to be working on a major facelift of the Punch micro-SUV. Many spy shots and videos of the vehicle undergoing road trials have surfaced in the past, sparking anticipations and discussions around the changes that are to be expected and the possible launch timeline. One of the recent sightings shows the vehicle in a closer-to-production form. The market launch is expected during this festive season.

The new spy video has been shared on Instagram by greatindianmotor. The SUV is seen with heavy camouflage. The video shows the rear end of the new Punch as it drives through the right lane of a two-lane highway. We can see a shark-fin antenna, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a reworked rear bumper on the mule.

The heavy camouflage on the vehicle limits us from having a clear clue of the rear lighting signature. It remains a possibility that the new Punch would feature connected LED tail lamps. The design of the tailgate seems to have changed as well.

Coming to the side view, the new SUV also has its rear door handles mounted on the C-pillars. The facelift will likely get new alloy wheels. Just like its predecessor, the new Punch will have prominent wheel arches and Blacked-out side pillars.

Tata Punch Facelift: What More Do We Know About It?

Tata Motors first launched the Punch in India in 2021. It rose to success in no time. Even after being in the market for over four years, the Tata Punch continues to dominate its segment. The facelift is hoped to add further to its monthly volumes.

In addition to the styling changes mentioned above, the facelift will likely feature a reworked front fascia with a tweaked lighting signature. Inside, it will see the addition of new features. Even the outgoing model comes well-kitted.

Tata Motors is expected to give the new model features such as a larger infotainment touchscreen, wireless charging, and a 360-degree camera. It will continue to excel on the safety front and come equipped with six airbags and a slew of other safety tech.

Minimal changes are to be expected on the powertrain front. The new model will come with the same engines and transmission options- 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol and the CNG dual-fuel that uses the same as its base. The petrol engine makes 88 PS and 115 Nm of torque on the outgoing Punch, while the CNG setup has an output of 73 PS and 103 Nm of peak power.

These are likely to remain the same on the facelift as well. We will learn more about these closer to launch. The transmission options will include a five-speed manual and an AMT automatic.

The Punch currently has its ex-showroom prices in the range of Rs 6.13 lakh - Rs 10.20 lakh. Considering the changes that have gone into it, the facelifted Punch will likely get slightly pricier.

Tata Punch Offers Diverse Powertrain Choices

Yes, Tata Motors has packaged the Punch well in terms of cabin room and features. However, a major reason for its stellar acceptance is the diverse choice of powertrains. It is available in both ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) and EV powertrain options and both versions are in great demand. The EV is further offered in multiple variants and two battery pack choices- 25kWh and 35 kWh.

This strategy of offering a variant or two to people with diverse powertrain demands and varying budgets is something that the carmaker has perfected with the Nexon and will likely be kept safe on the facelifted Punch as well.
