Tata Punch Beats Maruti Swift To Retake #1 Selling Car Status

SUVs are becoming extremely popular globally as well as in India. This is clearly visible in the sales numbers as well. Usually, the affordable hatchbacks from India’s largest manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, used to top the list. However, there has been a change lately, and we now have SUVs at the top of the list. Tata’s most affordable SUV, Punch, has performed pretty well in the market and is currently the top-selling vehicle in India in June.

The popularity of SUVs has increased so much that out of the top 10 models, 5 of them are SUVs and 3 are hatchbacks. One sedan and an MPV have also made it to the list. As per the sales report, Tata Motors sold 18,238 units of the Tata Punch in June. This is actually a good number for this micro SUV. The Suzuki Swift, which has always been a best seller from the Indian manufacturer for a very long time, recently got an update.

The current generation Swift’s delivery has already started, and Maruti sold 16,422 units of the Swift in June. This is actually 1,816 units less than the Punch. Other cars on the list are the Hyundai Creta – 16,293 units, Maruti Ertiga – 15,902 units, Maruti Baleno – 14,895 units, and Maruti WagonR – 13,790 units.
