Tata's Biggest Electric Car Coming Soon: Safari.EV Spied Testing With Sierra.EV [Video]

Tata Motors is currently the biggest electric four-wheeler manufacturer, and to make sure that the new entrants do not take its throne, it is working on the development of a number of new electric vehicles. Recently, two test mules of the Tata Sierra.ev and the Safari.ev were spotted testing on public roads. Most likely, these SUVs will be launched around the festive season of this year.
The short video showing the Sierra.ev and the Safari.ev has been shared on Instagram by autovahaan on their page. In this spy video clip, we can note that a Tata Sierra.ev test mule was parked on the side of the road with full body camouflage. Also, just in front of this SUV was the Safari.ev test mule, which again was wearing full body camouflage.
The main highlight of this video is the Tata Safari.ev. Once launched, the Safari.ev will sit on top of the Tata electric vehicle lineup. This particular test mule was fully covered in camouflage; hence, finer details cannot be noted. However, what we can observe is that the overall design and silhouette are the same as the ICE model.
Most likely, there will be a closed-off front grille and a few other EV-specific design cues on the front. Apart from these, the split LED headlights and LED DRLs will be the same as the standard model. Apart from these, the test mule was seen with the standard model’s 19-inch alloy wheels. However, the production Safari.ev will most likely get Harrier.ev-like aero blade-style alloy wheels.
The interior will most likely also be similar to the Harrier.ev, featuring a 14.53-inch Samsung Neo QLED touchscreen infotainment with inbuilt navigation, digital IRVM with built-in dashcam recording, digital key with ultra-wideband (UWB), near-field communication (NFC), and Bluetooth low energy (BLE). Other features will include a panoramic sunroof, multi-zone climate control, and many others.
The color of the Sierra underneath the camouflage is yellow. Eagle-eyed viewers will be able to note the color from the driver-side door handle area. In terms of overall design, the Sierra.ev boasts a boxy Land Rover Defender-like design, which looks very premium. The front gets a large bonnet and squared-off fenders.
Although the front fascia was completely concealed, we know that the SUV will be getting a split headlight set-up with connected LED DRL on top. On the side profile, it will be getting flush-type door handles and a set of larger 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels (test mule wheels were covered in camouflage). As for the rear, it will get a flat tailgate with connected LED taillights.
This particular test mule was recorded from a distance; as a result of this, the interior was not seen. However, previous test mule spy shots have shown that the Sierra.ev will be getting a triple screen layout. It will include a digital instrument gauge cluster, central touchscreen infotainment system, and a screen for the front passenger as well.
Most likely, the Safari.ev and Sierra.ev will both get the same electric powertrain options as the Harrier.ev. These will include a dual motor setup making 316 PS and 500 Nm of torque with QWD. Meanwhile, the other is an RWD single motor variant, which makes 235 PS of power and 315 Nm of torque. Battery pack options will include a 75 kWh offering a range of 627 km and a 65 kWh unit offering a range of 538 km (both are claimed ranges).
