Tata Motors has confirmed that the Sierra will be offered with two different dashboard layouts depending on the variant. Mid and lower trims will get a dual-screen setup, while higher trims will use the triple-screen arrangement that was showcased at the SUV’s November 15 unveiling.

The triple-screen layout combines a digital instrument cluster, central touchscreen and a separate co-passenger entertainment display. Tata positioned this panoramic TheatrePro style arrangement as a highlight of the cabin, especially on top-spec versions.

Head-up display reserved for dual-screen trims

What is unusual is that the dual-screen variants will feature a head-up display, which is not available on the triple-screen versions. Teaser videos released ahead of the November 25 launch indicate that removing the co-passenger screen has freed up packaging space for the head-up display.

The unit projects key information such as speed, navigation directions and safety alerts on the windscreen in the driver’s line of sight. This allows the driver to access critical data without looking down at the instrument cluster, which can be useful during highway driving or when following navigation instructions closely.

The choice to offer the head-up display on mid and lower trims rather than restricting it to top-end variants goes against the usual practice of keeping such tech exclusive to the most expensive versions. It also creates a clear functional distinction between buyers who value a more immersive three-screen cabin and those who prioritise driver-focused information displays.

Shared cabin design, lighting and terrain controls

The dual-screen dashboard retains the same basic cabin theme as the triple-screen setup. The beige and black dashboard, integrated central sound bar, A-pillar speakers and toggle style air conditioning controls are all carried over. Teaser footage shows light brown and beige dual-tone seats, a four-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, a front armrest with storage and a wireless phone charger. Extendable thigh support for the front seats is also visible.

Ambient lighting is used to separate trims visually. Higher variants are expected to offer multi-colour ambient lighting, while lower trims get a single warm yellow tone. The light strip runs along the door pads and across the dashboard layer below the central touchscreen, adding depth to the cabin, especially at night.

A terrain control knob can be seen beside the steering wheel in the teasers, although it appears blank. It is not yet clear whether this system, which typically adjusts throttle response and traction control for surfaces such as mud, sand or snow, will be offered on all variants or restricted to selected trims.

Variants, features and expected pricing

The Sierra will be launched with petrol, diesel and electric powertrain options spread across multiple variants. This will result in a complex feature mix where some equipment filters down the range and other features remain exclusive to higher trims. The head-up display being linked to the dual-screen layout is one example of how Tata is balancing hardware costs with feature spread.

Top-end Sierra variants will add more comfort and convenience kit. These include dual-zone climate control instead of the single-zone system on lower trims, a 12-speaker JBL audio setup in place of the standard unit, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats with powered driver adjustment, a manual boss mode that lets rear passengers move the front seat and push-button start instead of a traditional key-based ignition.

Safety equipment is expected to be strong across the range, with multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera, ABS with electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability control and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems mentioned in pre-launch information.

Expected pricing starts at around ₹11 lakh ex-showroom, putting the Sierra in the same space as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate and Volkswagen Taigun. The dual-screen layout helps keep costs in check on entry and mid variants, while the head-up display gives these versions a clear technology hook. The launch on November 25 will reveal the final variant-wise feature spread and show how many buyers choose the immersive triple-screen cabin over the more driver-focused dual-screen plus head-up display combination.
