Tata recently showcased the almost production-ready version of the Sierra at the Bharat Mobility Expo. What started as a concept is finally making its way to the production line. Tata has now started the road testing of the Sierra SUV, and the first images of the upcoming SUV have already surfaced online.

The Tata Sierra gets a design that is different from other SUVs available in the market. The unique silhouette of the SUV is what makes it easily recognizable on the road. The images have been shared by Autocar India on their website. The test mule spotted on the road appears to be the ICE version of the Sierra.

Like many modern-day Tata cars, the Sierra will also be launched as both an EV and an ICE vehicle. The test vehicle spotted here is fully camouflaged, but we already have an idea of how the SUV might look. The SUV seen here gets an open front grille with a split headlamp setup, which is slightly different from the version we saw at the Tata pavilion last month.

The test mule gets split headlamps and connecting LED bars, which have now become a signature design element in most Tata cars. The test mule spotted here is on steel rims covered with masking tape. The production version is likely to be offered with 19-inch alloy wheels. The upright bonnet and boxy design, along with blacked-out pillars and a roof designed to achieve a curved glass effect for the rear windows, are expected to be retained in the production version.

The SUV will come with squared-out wheel arches with gloss black or piano black cladding for a premium look. The rear of the SUV is likely to get all-LED tail lamps in a very sleek design. We are not sure if the rear of the production version of the Sierra is going to look the same as the one we saw at the Expo.

Tata didn’t show the interior of the Sierra at the Auto Expo. However, we assume that the Indian manufacturer will make an effort to ensure that the cabin looks different from other Tata SUVs.

It will feature a floating-type large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, electrically adjustable seats, leatherette upholstery, seat ventilation, multi-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and more. Tata will also offer Level 2 ADAS features with the Sierra.

Coming to the engine and transmission, the Sierra will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version of the Sierra will come with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that will generate around 170 PS and 280 Nm of peak torque. The diesel version of the Sierra will use the same Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that generates 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque.

The petrol version will be offered with manual and DCT or DCA gearbox options. The diesel version will be available with a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission. Tata will launch the EV version of the Sierra first, followed by the ICE version. Tata is expected to launch the Sierra towards the end of 2025.
