Tata showcased the almost production-ready version of their upcoming SUV, the Sierra, at the Bharat Mobility Expo. Months after the showcase, we have started seeing test mules of the SUV on the road. We saw images of the Sierra surface online last month, but this time around, we have a video where the Tata Sierra SUV is seen on the road.

Watch on YouTube

The video has been shared by Ashish D on his YouTube channel. The person probably recorded the video in Pune, where Tata’s manufacturing facility is located. In the video, we see the person chasing the test mules on a public road.

The Sierra in this video is seen from the rear. The SUV is fully camouflaged, but we can still figure out that it is the Sierra from its boxy design. The LED tail lamps are visible in the video. The Sierra was not being tested alone; in fact, we see a couple of fully camouflaged Tata Altroz vehicles in front of the Sierra. It looks like Tata is testing the Altroz facelift along with the Sierra.

The Tata Sierra has a design that is different from other SUVs available in the market. The unique silhouette of the SUV makes it easily recognizable on the road. Like many modern-day Tata cars, the Sierra will be launched as both an EV and an ICE vehicle.

The SUV seen here looks like the ICE variant. The upcoming SUV will come with an LED bar at the front that runs across the width of the vehicle. The sleek-looking headlamp unit will be placed right below it. The bumper looks chunky, and there are provisions for LED fog lamps as well.

The car seen here looks different from the one in previous spy pictures, as it is running on bigger wheels. The alloy wheel design also looks different from any other Tata model. The squared wheel arches, thick cladding, and blacked-out pillars all contribute to its rugged SUV look.

The video doesn’t show the interior of the Sierra, but it is expected to come with premium features that Tata offers in their other models. The Tata Sierra is expected to get a floating-type large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, electrically adjustable seats, leatherette upholstery, seat ventilation, multi-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, Level 2+ ADAS, and more.

Coming to the engine and transmission, the Sierra will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version of the Sierra will come with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that will generate around 170 PS and 280 Nm of peak torque. The diesel version of the Sierra will use the same Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that generates 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque.

The petrol version will be offered with manual and DCT or DCA gearbox options. The diesel version will be available with a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission. Tata will launch the EV version of the Sierra first, followed by the ICE version. Tata is expected to launch the Sierra towards the end of 2025.
