Tata Safari And Harrier Get Rs. 1.4 Lakh Discount: XUV700 Price Cut Effect?

Tata Motors, one of India’s leading car manufacturers, is now celebrating the 20 lakh SUV sales milestone. Since the launch of its first SUV, Sierra, in 1991, Tata has sold over 20 lakh SUVs in the Indian market. To celebrate this occasion, the manufacturer is now offering discounts on their popular SUVs like Harrier and Safari. Tata is calling this the ‘King of SUVs’ festival and offering discounts of up to Rs 1.40 lakh. These discounts and benefits are valid until July 31st.
Mr. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “Our ability to understand the SUV segment and provide the right product for every customer need helps us immensely to maintain consistency and dominant leadership in the segment. Supported by our multi-powertrain strategy, our approach is to provide Indian consumers with world-class SUVs that are robust, safe, and technologically advanced. The achievement of the 2 million SUV sales mark is a testament to this approach and sets the pace for the future growth of the SUV category.”
The discounts mentioned above are applicable to both ICE and EV SUVs sold by the Indian manufacturer. The Tata Harrier, a popular 5-seater SUV in the segment, is available with a discount of Rs 50,000. The Safari, on the other hand, gets a discount worth Rs 70,000. This has brought down the ex-showroom price of both these SUVs.
Apart from the ICE versions, Tata is also offering discounts on the EVs. The Nexon.ev, which is one of the best-selling EVs in the country, is getting benefits worth up to Rs 1.3 lakh, and the entry-level electric SUV from Tata, the Punch.ev, is getting benefits worth Rs 30,000.
The price of the Tata Harrier now starts at Rs 14.99 lakh and Rs 15.49 lakh for the Safari SUV. The Harrier, launched in 2019, soon became popular among buyers for its muscular and SUV-like look. After the launch of the Harrier, Tata introduced the extended three-row version of the SUV and launched it in the market as the Safari.
There are still many who do not like the fact that this SUV is called Safari. However, that has not affected its sales, and it is performing pretty well in the market. Both the Harrier and Safari received a major facelift last year, and as part of this, both vehicles got cosmetic and feature updates.
The Harrier and Safari are both available with features like a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable seats, an all-new touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, a multi-function steering wheel, leatherette upholstery, ADAS, and so on. The SUVs also come with a seat ventilation feature.
Both these SUVs are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine that generates 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine is available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission option.
Coming to the electric vehicles, just like the Harrier and Safari, the Nexon.ev and the electric version also received a major update last year. It looks futuristic and offers more features than before. The Punch.ev is the first EV from Tata to use the dedicated Acti.ev EV platform. Both the Nexon.ev and the Punch.ev are available in Medium Range and Long Range variants.
