Tesla Model Y: Full Price List, Colours And Options Explained
Putting an end to long waits and anticipations, Tesla has entered India with the Model Y. Two variants have been brought to India- the Standard and the Long Range RWD. These have starting prices of Rs 59.89 lakh and Rs 67.89 lakh respectively (both ex-showroom). Its pricing has placed the Model Y on the expensive side of things. Let's now go into the finer details of the pricing.
Deep Dive Into The Model Y Price In India
Tesla seems to be well aware of the importance of having a decent entry price in a cost-conscious market like India. The standard RWD variant (the entry-grade Model Y) has an on-road price of 60.99 lakh in Mumbai. Now let's discuss the options and colours in detail.
The aforementioned prices will get you the EV in its standard colourway and with the standard set of features. The carmaker offers a range of optional colours, which are placed at a steep price premium. Imagine paying a sizeable sum for having your preferred colour on your car. Enter Tesla and it isn't unreal anymore!
The Model Y's palette consists of six shades- Stealth Grey, Pearl White Multi-Coat, Diamond Black, Glacier Blue, Quicksilver, and Ultra Red. Just the first is offered as standard, and you will have to pay for the rest.
The Pearl White multi-coat and Diamond Black are priced at Rs 95,000 each. Glacier Blue comes at a cost of Rs 1.25 lakh. Adding Quicksilver or Ultra Red to your Model Y will add an additional 1.85 lakh rupees to the total price. These can be selected and ordered through Tesla's official website and car configurator for India.
The standard car comes with an all-Black cabin. You can, however, choose a Black and White dual-tone colourway, which will cost another 95,000 rupees.
In addition to colours, Tesla also lets potential owners choose the inclusion of the full self-driving suite on their vehicles. In a surprise move, Tesla has brought the enhanced ADAS suite to India. Speccing your Model Y with this tech will add an additional 6 lakh rupees to the cost.
You might now wonder if this suite is Tesla's Autopilot and if it would permit fully autonomous driving. Well, the current legislation in India mandates a human driver with a valid driving license to be behind the wheel, while the vehicle is in motion.
Likely due to this, Tesla mentions in their website that the Fully Self Driving suite currently ‘requires active driver supervision’. It also says that the full capability of this will be unlocked 'in future updates'. The company seems to be awaiting regulatory approvals.
How Expensive Can It Get?
Many of you would now have this question in mind 'How much can a fully-specced Model Y cost in India?'. Let's now address the same. Imagine we spec a RWD Model Y with the most expensive interior and exterior colourways and the Full Self-Driving suite. Its on-road price in Mumbai will stand at Rs 69,88,490. This is inclusive of the GST, TCS, Administration and Service Fee and FASTag charges.

How To Buy One?
Tesla has started accepting orders for both variants of the Model Y in India. You can use the car configurator to select your preferred options and colours to the car and make the reservation. A token amount of Rs 22,220 will have to be paid immediately, which is non-refundable. It should be followed by Rs 3 lakh within the next 7 days. You can use your card or even UPI to make these payments.
