Tesla's Second Dealership In India Coming Soon: Details

The billionaire Elon Musk’s electric four-wheelers manufacturing giant, Tesla Inc., recently made its much-awaited debut in the country. Its first dealership, or as the company calls it, “Experience Centre,” was inaugurated in Mumbai, located at the Bandra Kurla Complex. Now, it has been reported that the company is gearing up to open its second experience centre in the capital of India – Delhi – by the end of July. Here are all the details of the Tesla Delhi dealership.
According to reports, the new Tesla Delhi dealership will be inaugurated by the end of July. As for the location of the Tesla experience centre Delhi, it will be located in Worldmark, Aerocity. For those who may not be aware, Worldmark is a luxury commercial and hospitality district which is located near Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi.
It has been mentioned that Tesla, for its Delhi experience centre, has leased a 4,000 sq ft space and will be paying a monthly rent of Rs 25 lakh. The location of Tesla’s dealership in Delhi has been decided after careful consideration, as Worldmark is known for its premium 5-star hotels, Fortune 500 offices, and upscale dining along with premium retail outlets.
So, as Tesla is a premium automaker, it will be able to get strong brand visibility in Worldmark. The same is the case with the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai. Both of these experience centres have been positioned and designed to attract high net worth individuals, corporate travellers, and foreign visitors.
The Tesla Mumbai experience centre was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Tesla Mumbai is a 24,565 sq ft facility which displays the company's first and only offering at the moment, the Model Y electric SUV. Following the launch of the dealership and Model Y, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was seen test-driving this electric SUV.
Tesla has launched the Model Y electric SUV with a starting price of Rs 58.89 lakh for the Rear-Wheel Drive variant. Meanwhile, the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive has been priced at Rs 67.89 lakh. At the time of the launch, the company announced that the booking amount for the Model Y is Rs 22,000, which is non-refundable. In addition to this, a Rs 3 lakh deposit has to be made within 7 days of the initial payment.
Currently, the Tesla Model Y is being brought via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route; as a result, it is a bit more expensive. It competes with premium EV rivals such as Kia EV6, BYD Sealion, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Volvo EC40, Mercedes-Benz EQB, and BMW iX1. As for the much less expensive Indian rivals, the Mahindra XEV 9E and Tata Harrier.ev offer more performance and features for the same price.
Tesla is only offering the single electric motor-equipped Rear-Wheel Drive variants in India. The base variant makes 299 PS of power and 420 Nm of torque. It gets a 60.5 kWh battery pack, offering a 500 km range. Meanwhile, the more expensive variant offers 340 PS of power and 450 Nm of torque. The Long Range model also gets a bigger 75 kWh battery pack, providing a claimed range of 622 km.
