Tesla Model Y Spotted Outside Mumbai Showroom Ahead Of 15th July Launch

After years of delay, finally, the American electric vehicle manufacturing giant Tesla Inc. is coming to India. As it was reported, Tesla will be inaugurating its first dealership in India in Mumbai. Recently, a few images showing the final preparations going on have been shared online. In the images, a Tesla Model Y EV was seen getting unloaded at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai. Also, the dealership now seems almost finished and will soon be open to the public.
The images of a Tesla Model Y getting unloaded at the Tesla Mumbai dealership have been shared on X by Ankit Jxa on their page. In the first image, we can note that a fully covered vehicle was on top of a flatbed trailer. The second image then shows this vehicle on the ground with half of its cover removed.
This image reveals that it is the Tesla Model Y facelift. It is now confirmed that the company is bringing the new facelifted Model Y to the country, as over the last few months we have seen both the new and the old Model Y being tested on public roads. This particular vehicle in the image is finished in dark grey with a black and white dual-tone interior.
The massive 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system can also be seen in the image. Apart from the vehicle, another image shows the front of the Tesla Mumbai dealership. We can note that it looks very modern and welcoming. Currently, the Tesla emblem on the outside of the dealership is hidden.
For those who may not be aware, the company will inaugurate its first-ever India dealership on July 15. It is believed that the company, in addition to the Model Y seen in the images, will also be placing its most affordable vehicle, the Model 3, inside the Mumbai dealership.
Reportedly, the most affordable Tesla in India will be the Model 3, and it will start at around Rs 70 lakh. At the moment, all Tesla cars will be imported as CBUs (Completely Built Units).
In addition to the dealership at the Bandra Kurla Complex, the company has also signed a lease for a 24,566 sq ft warehouse in Kurla. Tesla Inc. will also be opening its dealerships in other major cities such as Delhi, Bangalore, and others. Back in 2024, the company had asked DLF, India's largest real estate brand, to help it in finding the best spot for its dealership.
This leased space will be used as a service and delivery hub. Reportedly, the company has paid a Rs 2.25 crore security deposit, and the rent will be Rs 37.5 lakh per month for the next 5 years. Also, prior to the dealerships, the company had already started hiring people for its dealership in Mumbai. It recently posted job postings for Service Advisors, Parts Advisors, Store Manager, Service Technician, Delivery Operations Specialist, and many others.
Most likely, in the future, once the company notes that there is sufficient demand for its electric vehicles, it could also open its factory in India for manufacturing. Over the years, Tesla has also expressed that India could become an export hub for its other markets.
