Toyota Fortuner Legender 4X4 Becomes Rs. 1.73 Lakh Cheaper: Here's Why
The Toyota Fortuner Legender is one of those SUVs that need no introduction or advertising to lure in buyers. The aura that this SUV has is unparalleled, and due to this, its sales are only increasing. However, to increase it even further, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched a new and more affordable version of the Fortuner Legender 4X4. From now on, buyers will be able to buy the Toyota Fortuner Legender 4X4 with a six-speed manual transmission, and it has been priced at Rs 1.73 lakh lower than the automatic model.
Toyota Fortuner Legender 4X4 MT launched in India
The all-new Toyota Fortuner Legender 4X4 with the manual transmission has been launched at a price of Rs 46.36 lakh. Prior to this, the most affordable variant of the Legender was the 4X2 AT variant, which was priced at Rs 44.11 lakh. The 4X4 variant with the automatic transmission, which also served as the flagship variant of this SUV, was priced at Rs 48.09 lakh.
This means that the new 4X4 manual transmission Legender is Rs 1.73 lakh cheaper than the 4X4 variant with the automatic gearbox. This will now help boost the sales of the Fortuner Legender. While launching this model, Toyota stated that this new variant has been introduced to provide off-roading enthusiasts with enhanced precision and control while tackling challenging terrains.
Toyota Fortuner Legender 4X4 MT powertrain
Like the 4X4 automatic transmission variant, the newly launched Fortuner Legender 4X4 manual will also be powered by the same 2.8-litre diesel engine. This motor is capable of producing 204 PS of power, which is also the same as the automatic transmission trim.
However, instead of making 500 Nm of torque, the new manual trim variant will produce 420 Nm of torque. The gearbox is a 6-speed unit. Apart from the gearbox change, the Toyota Fortuner Legender 4X4 MT will look exactly the same. On the outside, it gets more aggressive front and rear bumpers.
It also features a piano black front grille, sleeker LED headlights with LED DRLs, and sequential turn indicators. This particular variant will only be offered in pearl white color with a satin black roof. As for the interior, it gets the same dual-tone black and maroon color upholstery, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, and an 11-speaker JBL audio system.

Toyota Fortuner Legender rivals
Currently, the Toyota Fortuner and the Legender are the undisputed champions of the full-size premium ladder-on-frame chassis SUV segment. Its closest rival in the market is the MG Gloster. However, its sales are still far behind the Fortuner. Prior to the Gloster, the only SUV that ever gave the Fortuner a tough fight was the Ford Endeavour.
However, as the American automotive giant left India back in September 2021, the Endeavour also went out of the competition. It has been reported that Ford is planning to make a comeback to India. However, it will take some time before it officially returns. Also, it has been reported that this time around, the Endeavour will be launched as the “Everest” in India.
