This festive season, we saw many manufacturers announce attractive discounts, benefits and offers to boost sales. Some brands went a step further and introduced special festive season editions to take a larger share of the pie. Toyota has taken a similar approach and reportedly launched a cosmetic mod-job called the ‘Signature Edition’ on the Fortuner, Innova Hycross, Hyryder, and Glanza. A recent video published by ‘The Car Show‘ shows the Hyryder Signature Edition in detail. The SUV is available in four trims- E, S, G and V. The E could be too basic to get the Signature edition. The video shows the S and G variants getting the special edition. It thus makes sense to expect the top-spec V variant to also come with this mod.

The biggest highlight of this edition is the dual-tone colourway, which bears an undeniable resemblance to those found on high-end luxury cars like the Maybach and BMW i7. The upper part wears one colour, while the lower is finished in a contrasting shade. The base colour is Grey while Navy Blue and Wine Red can be had as lead colours.

At the side, there’s a clean line where these two paints meet. Various areas of the exterior get premium glossy trims and finishes- for example, the mirrors are finished in what looks like a CF dip. The headlamps get gloss Black surrounds and there are new alloy wheels (only on the Blue) as well. The exterior also gets more than one ‘Signature Edition’ badges. The Blue colourway comes with Teal-coloured brake discs.

On the inside, the special edition gets new soft-touch materials and leather. The door pads, dashboard, central console etc get soft touch leather finished in a colour similar to the exterior lead colour. This means, if you buy a Blue- Silver exterior colourway, the cabin will likely have these in a lighter shade of Blue.

You get to find the Blue on the steering wheel as well. (The Wine Red version has the callipers finished in Red, but misses out on the new wheels.) Even the start/stop button wears this shade.

The Hyryder Signature edition gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel even on the S variant. Most of the other features remain unchanged. There are several other premium trims inside- like CF and quilted leather. There is even a Rolls Royce-inspired starry headliner!

While the regular S variants come with fabric seats, the Signature edition has these in Leather with ‘Signature Edition’ written on the front headrests. The roof and pillars are now finished in Black, and the door handrests now get a velvet finish.

No changes have been made to the mechanicals- be it the platform, engine or transmission choices. The car featured in the video is the strong hybrid version. It gets a 1.5L, 3-cylinder, hybrid petrol engine that produces 91 bhp and 122 Nm. It is a popular choice for how fuel-efficient it is.

The video also mentions that the S Signature edition can also be had with the mild-hybrid powertrain comprising a 1.5 naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 100 bhp and 135 Nm.

Hyryder Signature Edition: A Dealer Level Mod?

At the time of writing this article, we have had no official communication from Toyota confirming this to be a factory-level special edition. It could thus make sense to assume that the Signature edition is a dealer-level mod job. Toyota has done something similar previously with the Fortuner Leader edition. However, considering the amount of work that has gone into the interior- especially the dashboard and the start/stop button, the possibility of this being a factory-level job cannot be dismissed either.
