Don’t Buy Toyota Innova HyCross: Skip The 14 Month Waiting And Buy This Car Instead

Ever since the launch, the Toyota Innova Hycross and Crysta have cornered the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) market. However, the current booking situation for these models has left many potential buyers frustrated. Recently, it has been reported that the waiting periods for the Innova Hycross have extended up to 14 months for the hybrid variants. Additionally, Innova Crysta waitings have now become 6 months long.
The demand for the Toyota Innova Hycross has skyrocketed. Reportedly, the hybrid powertrain variants of this MPV have a waiting period of more than 14 months. On the other hand, the non-hybrid variants have a waiting period of six months. Also, the Innova Crysta waiting periods have stretched up to six months, depending on the city.
Both variants come with 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engines. However, the hybrid variants come with a sophisticated strong hybrid system. Both also get CVT transmissions as standard with no manual transmission on offer. The Crysta, on the other hand, comes only with a 2.4-litre diesel engine. It makes 147 bhp and 343 Nm of torque.
Toyota has stated the reason behind these extended waiting periods is global supply chain disruptions. It has highlighted that these are affecting the production schedules and delivery timelines. The company added that it is making efforts to ramp up production.
However, it has not been sufficient to meet the overwhelming demand. Toyota stated that this has led to a temporary halt in bookings for certain variants. This halt has left many buyers in limbo. It has made them uncertain about when they will be able to receive their vehicles.
To control the extensive demand and long waiting periods, Toyota recently announced a halt on new bookings for the top-spec ZX and ZX(O) variants of the Innova Hycross. This decision aims to manage the existing backlog and ensure timely deliveries for current orders.
For those eager buyers who are unwilling to endure the 14-month waiting period for the Toyota Innova Hycross, there is a more viable alternative that offers similar features and technology. We are talking about the Maruti Suzuki Invicto. It is the badge-engineered version of the Toyota Innova Hycross.
It also gets the same 2.0-litre petrol engine coupled with a strong hybrid system by Toyota. The Invicto’s hybrid drivetrain also produces the same 184 bhp of power and 209 Nm of torque. It also comes standard with the CVT gearbox.
The only downside is that unlike the Innova Hycross, the Maruti Suzuki Invicto does not offer a non-hybrid petrol engine option. On the flip side, this makes it an equivalent alternative to the Toyota Innova Hycross ZX and ZX(O) variants.
The Invicto comes equipped with almost the same features as the Hycross. It gets the same 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. However, the Invicto only gets 6 speakers, while the Hycross gets a set of 9-speaker JBL premium sound system.
Apart from this, on the interior, the Invicto gets the same captain’s chair in the middle row. However, it misses out on Ottoman-style seats, which the Hycross Hybrid gets. The Invicto also misses out on ADAS features.
