Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 250: Launching in India

The newest generation of the Land Cruiser Prado 250 will be based on Toyota’s GA-F platform. It is the same platform that underpins the flagship SUV, the Land Cruiser LC300. Dimensionally, the new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 250 will measure 4,920 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, 1,870 mm in height, and its wheelbase will be 2,850 mm.

As for the design, this time around, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 250 will depart from the classy styling. It will now adopt a much more rugged-looking exterior design. At the front, it will boast an upright front fascia, and its overall silhouette will be very boxy. The headlights will be all-LED units and will be in a rectangular shape. Also, the grilles will boast a square mesh design.

Moving on to the side profile, it will get chunky black claddings and square ORVMs finished in rough black. The window lines of this SUV will be very tall, and they will boast a kink in the rear door. Apart from these, it will also come equipped with roof rails as well. Coming to the main highlight, it will come equipped with a set of sporty-looking 18-inch alloy wheels.

As for the rear-end design, like its siblings, the LC300 and the Fortuner, it will also get a flat tailgate without any spare tyre. There will be a set of squarish LED tail lights, and its rear bumper will be very bold and get a brushed skid plate finished in dark grey color. Overall, the new Prado 250 will look a lot more adventure- and off-road-ready.

Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 250: Indian history

The Land Cruiser Prado was introduced in India back in the 1990s-early 2000s. At the beginning, it was imported as a completely built unit (CBU). It was then officially launched in the country in 2004. At the time, it came powered by a 3.0-litre D-4D diesel engine.

It was then updated in 2009, and after that, in 2011. However, by 2015, the demand for the Prado started going down, and as stated above, in 2020, Toyota discontinued this model. Most likely, the new generation model will find more success in India this time around.
