Currently, Toyota does not have an electric vehicle on sale in India. However, that will change soon, as the company is gearing up for the launch of the Urban Cruiser EV. This brand-new electric SUV has been developed by Toyota in conjunction with its long-term Indian strategic partner, Maruti Suzuki India Limited. Recently, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV was showcased at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025, and today we'll give you a detailed tour of this EV SUV.

Dimensions

First off, let's talk about the dimensions of the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV SUV. It measures exactly the same as the Maruti Suzuki eVitara. The Urban Cruiser EV will be 4,285 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, 1,640 mm tall, and its wheelbase will be 2,700 mm.

Exterior design: Front

Now, coming to the exterior design of the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV. At the front, this electric SUV boasts a “hammerhead” design with a traditional LED headlight setup and LED DRLs on the top. The centre is dominated by a black, closed-off grille. As for the lower section, it gets a simple front bumper with four parking sensors, black details, and matte black lower cladding.

Side profile

Taking a look at the side profile, we can note the similarity of the Urban Cruiser EV with the eVitara, which is its badge-engineered counterpart. It has a similar macho and proportional silhouette. The charging port for this SUV has been positioned on the front left fender, and the front door gets traditional pull-type door handles. As for the rear door handles, they are hidden on the door.

Alloy wheels

The Urban Cruiser EV, in its top-spec variant, will be getting a set of 18-inch aero blade-style alloy wheels. The majority of this wheel is finished in black, but its ends are finished in silver. These wheels are housed in squared-off cladding on both ends.

Rear end

Moving to the rear, except for the Toyota and Urban Cruiser badging, it looks exactly the same as the Maruti Suzuki eVitara. It gets a set of clear LED taillights, an integrated roof spoiler, a shark fin antenna, and a chunky rear bumper. Like the front, the rear also gets four parking sensors.

Interior design

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will boast a very high-quality cabin. It will get a black, brown, and grey-colored interior, which looks very premium and modern. The upholstery itself is a combination of leather and fabric.

In terms of features, the centre portion of the dashboard is dominated by a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The Urban Cruiser EV SUV will also get a 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto as well.

Other notable highlights include 12-color ambient lighting, a 360-degree view camera, a flat top and bottom steering wheel, and a large single-pane electric sunroof.

Apart from these, the rear seats will offer 40:20:40 split folding. The rear seats will also slide for adjusting the luggage space and the rear passenger legroom.

Powertrain

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will be manufactured by Maruti Suzuki India but will be sold by Toyota dealerships. Maruti Suzuki will also help Toyota in exporting this SUV to other global markets as well. Powering the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will be two battery pack options. The first will be a 49 kWh, and the second will be a 61 kWh battery pack. The 49 kWh battery pack model will come with 144 bhp and 189 Nm of torque.

Meanwhile, there will be a 174 bhp and 189 Nm torque variant as well. Lastly, the company will also be offering a dual-motor AWD variant with 184 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. The range on the top-of-the-line model is expected to be around 500 km.
